Ran into some oil spots that won’t come up

You shouldn’t be draining your septic tank often, or at all. If you’re having to do it more than once every few years you have an issue.

I have only been in this house for almost 2 years now. Never had it drained. What Brian said just made me think about it for some reason. I figured he knew so life hack to save money.

Hey he probably is right. Kind of like when we try to educate customers on soft washing vs “spray and forget”

Just don’t flush a lot of bleach down your drain and don’t drive over your drain field. And hopefully you don’t have the terra-cotta drain pipe that roots can grow through.

About every 3-5 years is about normal for pumping. If you keep the bacteria count healthy you can go even longer. That’s why a lot of these newer septic tanks have those aerators in them. When my father-in-law just starts using the “bugs” for a new customer at a restaurant they grease trap is usually bad enough he has to add the “bugs” and pump air for a few months. That really keeps the bugs eating.

I’m sure Rid-X makes their bacteria as cheap as possible which I’m sure means a lot lower count. The micro biologist my father-in-law gets his from doesn’t sell directly to consumer or anything. He sells them to businesses. They can always go elsewhere to get them so the biologist knows he needs to produce the best of the best. He’s been getting them from the same guy for 25 years and have always worked great.
