I know it sounds stupid, but I’m nervous to try this. I’ve tried pretty much everything else at this point, so it’s all I have left to do, but I’m worried about not being able to get everything properly sealed back together with no air leaks. Is it better to use liquid thread sealant or thread tape when threading everything back together? And are there any tips for not cracking the PVC when disconnecting and reconnecting threads?
Just be gentle when undoing, slow but persistent pressure. May have to cut the braided line over end of nipple, then trim it off nipple with razor or knife, especially if you heated when you put on, which you should have.
I just use the blue Monster pipe dough. I never have leaks on fittings. I’ve used others too. Most work pretty good. Just make sure you get smeared all the way around.
