Obviously, it’s possible to make a living with no sales chops at all. But once that request for a quote comes through, the transaction enters the sales process any way you slice it. This is your chance to add value or just throw prices out there & hope they go for it. Most customers are more interested in hearing about what you can do for them than how low your prices are. Think of a dinner date on a wedding anniversary… How many people are going to get sidetracked by a sign that says “50 cent tacos!” on their way to a top notch steakhouse? Homeowners don’t wash their house every day. It’s a special occasion. I have no idea what the ‘going rate’ is in my area & neither do my customers but I’m convinced most of them are more interested in getting the best service available than getting the cheapest price.
If you do volume you can offer a cheap price and best service because you aren’t hindered by looking for work or advertising. Sept 10 was our 28th anniversary. It was my year to pick a place so we went to waffle house.
Somebody has to be the top dawg. May as well be you! I also consider Waffle House a special occasion. It’s either the 2 egg breakfast with a side of bacon or the Texas cheese steak sammich with the bacon on the side. Now you’ve made me hungry, you rascal.
I’m not sure we can be friends. One simply doesn’t use a menu at WH, nor does a man order an omelet and tell other people that he has done so. If you’re going to eat eggs any way other than over medium you don’t tell other men. You should probably edit your post before others look down on you. I wouldn’t, but I can’t speak for the rest of the crowd here
I wanted to get an omelet purely because I need to drop a few (dozen) pounds and am trying to get away from the carbs…given my druthers I’d get a biscuit slathered in sausage gravy and crispy taters, and the correct answer is over easy (over medium is, however, acceptable if one gets distracted while cooking said eggs)
Windy, Your question or debate is a puzzle to all, I’m sure. Of the houses I’ve estimated there were two jobs I wanted. The rest were cheap customers who had not premise of knowledge but they their price in mind and were stuck on their price. I’d rather skip a job than lose money just to please a customer’s ego. Square feet involved to wash is key because the mildew and stains can come right back is the cause of the problem is overlooked. A building without gutters will not stay clean for long. There is more to this topic but I close suggesting you price it to CYA and try to sell the proposal.
