Starter button is a common issue that can be fixed by removing two bolts and moving wires around. As far as the other stuff… That’s odd. I’ve been running 2 of these engines for a total of 3 years now and haven’t had any other issues aside from the starter switch.
Good to hear. I like the convenience of running to a local harbor, freight and grabbing an engine. I’ll add the warranty as well.
Not surprised to hear I got the dud, but it was underpowered for 6.8gpm anyway. Kohler Command didn’t treat me any better, brand new out of the box. Honda is all I’ll own anymore.
If you’re running a larger operation, potentially with employees, I’d definitely recommend a honda. (Or 2 such HF builds so one is ready as a backup, but at that point you might want to just get the honda.) As you scale up, a small engine breakdown could make lose tons of money. As a budget build or for just starting out, I’d recommend the Predator.
My man…
GX630, 8gpm and about 2700psi after 200’ hose. Zero issues after 550 hours which isn’t much.
I just got the same machine , how are you doing with yours ?
I just got the same setup, do I need to support the pump with a bracket or is it fine just mounting to the engine?
@LibertyRez hasn’t posted in almost a year, and the post you replied to is almost 2 years old… but if you are using a gear drive, then no, it’s not necessary to use a bracket to support the pump.
I support my 5.5gpm gear drive pump with four bolts and 8 nyloc nuts. The bolt is the “pedestal” and the two nuts per bolt acting as jam nuts. I can post a pic if you’re interested.
What he said! Lol
No support needed with gear drive.
