Pesticide spray taking off oxidation?

Just wanted to try it based on @Racer suggesting it. The homeowners seem to be very good people and even told the exterminator they would not trash his name. They do not blame him, they just think it was his product and s**t happens. The sales rep for the Insecticide said it shouldn’t have stained the vinyl. I am not worried about them saying anything about me as I have merely tried to rectify the problem with a test cleaning. The end result will be new siding and they will be happy. Trust me, I get where you are coming from as people can be a pain and there are always those that want something for nothing. I just don’t see this as the case in this situation. There still are good people out there.

The pest guy should just spray the whole exterior lol

LOL. I told him that.

That last pic doesnt look how pesticide would be applied. That stuff is mainly crack and crevice and they always spray the bottom of a door. Doesnt look like there is discoloration down there. And why would they spray so wide to the left of the door. Something seems wrong with the story. I guess the insurance adjuster will have to make the call at this point.

Glad you’re going to try it. Part of being a professional is trying certain things that can work and seeing which one gives you the best result. For a lot of things in this industry, especially esoteric problems is there’s no set answer. You have to have a certain base of knowledge and be willing to try certain things to increase that base. There’s a reason I carry 4-5 different soaps and 5-6 gallons of other chemicals on my trailer at all times. I’m not sure the EBC will help, but it would have been the first thing I tried if faced with the same problem.

Plus one on EBC not working. You’ve already tried two powerful degreasers. Next step should be going in the opposite direction: acids. I would try OneRestore as a last ditch attempt before replacement.

That is my thinking too. I’m looking at this as a learning curve. If I find the right product, it could secure future business and more importantly be a huge lesson. The exterminator has become a friend over the past couple years and he has already given my name out. He wanted to pay me for my time and I wouldn’t accept it.
I am thinking about reaching out to a local vinyl siding supplier and asking them if they might have an idea. Thanks for the input.

What ever happened with trying the EBC on this? Just curious if it helped or if they replaced the siding.

No luck. They replaced it. I have spoken with the exterminator a couple times since. He actually had another house do the same thing. I am wondering if it had everything to do with the siding manufacturer. Your follow-up timing is quite a coincidence. The homeowner gave me a recommendation to a friend that I am actually supposed to estimate tomorrow.

You should see if the replaced siding is still available for “practice”. Once it’s off the home you could try everything under the sun without having to worry about any downside consequences. It may allow for a creative answer to the initial problem.

It’s been too long ago. That’s a good idea though. I imagine the siding company kept it and will re-use it as it was in great condition otherwise.

That’s too bad. You’ve sparked my interest though. I think I’m going to head out and find me some old vinyl siding to stain up and try and clean. See what I’m able to actually clean off vinyl and more importantly what damages it beyond repair.
