Ordering new pressure hose - Dewalt

Is @marinegrunt right? Do you really use an 8’ whip? If so, why 8’? I was thinking of getting 3’ whips

8’ whips for the end of the hose nearest the gun. It takes the most beating and if it blows out you just swap out the 8 footer.

I think he was remembering @Innocentbystander’s post. This will be my first year using a sacrificial whip line. United will make custom whip lines if you need something particular for a trailer build or something.

You got it. Steve with United Hose - on my “to-do list” for tomorrow. IBS said 247’ of grey non marking with a 3’ whip. I will discuss options, but you know I’m bringing up Off Duty Fireman’s set-up. If I do 5% of the work he seems to know how to do I’ll be golden.

Where’d you see he used a 3’ foot whip? I’ll have to ask him what length it is. I’m 5’10, but he’s a giant. Maybe he does it to keep the fitting off the ground. 3’ foot for me at waist height would still drag.

Now I’m curious.

United hose is whatever you ask for. They make it when you order. I get 247 foot sections with swivel on one end. That allows for 3 foot whip hose. They send 250 anyway lol. Steve is a good guy there

That is a direct quote from IBS in another thread

I don’t know how to do that fancy quote/link/whatever thing here…sorry

Thanks. Now I’m curious why I bought 8’ whips. Lol

Remember though, that IBS has crews out that he’s sometimes not with, so everything has to be idiot proof. If you’re an owner/operator, then you learn to take care of your equipment without all the other stuff you guys are doing. Hose management is one of the first and most important things you’ll learn.

Understood. But I should probably start “idiotproof” for me. I’ll learn and adjust what works for me

If you want to quote just click and hold the left mouse button and drag it over the text to highlight what you want to quote. Once you have everything you want to quote in blue release the mouse bottom and a little grey box will show up that says “quote”. Just click that and it’ll put the quote down in the reply box.

[q uote] type whatever text you want [/quote]

Don’t put a space between the q and u like I did in the first “quote”. I had to do that so it wouldn’t disappear. Those are those square brackets being used.

If I’m off a forum for awhile I always forget and have to look it up again. I went years wondering how it was done before someone finally told me.

Thanks. I’ll try to remember. Don’t really use a mouse too much. Using one of my kids’ iPads right now. Use my phone a lot too. I walk around/tinker too much to actually sit down at the computer

I miss ol’ IBS =(

Its a lot more civil and peaceful now

It’s true that if you have thin skin and deep feelings, I’m sure he could be a bit abrasive. He’s a stranger on the internet giving out free advice. Never really knew how someone can let what a stranger says bother them so much. Not like you met him IRL and the twerked your nipples and kissed your girlfriend or something haha. I’ve been a chef for 20 years, and I’ve never had a need for coloring books and safe rooms, so I guess that’s why I get along well with him lol.

Being a new member I probably shouldn’t type this but everyone is missing out on what ibs can bring to the forum. I don’t know IBS at all but have read many posts. I wish he would come back on here because everyone forum needs a straight shooter. When I see people on forums get all upset from something someone said it instantly reminds me of how society started awarding trophies to every kid even if they get last place and are the loser. When our daughter was in kiddie softball they didn’t even keep score! The 1st place trophies were the same size as the last place and they didn’t even say “winners” or “1st place” We’re in a day in age where they are pushing that there are no losers and everyone deserves the same and it doesn’t matter if one worked harder and longer to accomplish those goals. Now that these “kids” are adults we are seeing what the “every kid gets a trophy” is doing to our society. They feel like they are entitled to everything for free including advice on the internet from some stranger and that stranger better say it exactly how that “trophy winner” wants to here it or they get their panties in a bunch.

Sorry for getting off topic. I just don’t see why anyone would care if some stranger is being a jerk at times on here if he can bring that level of experience to a forum. He could cuss me all day long on here and I wouldn’t care one bit as long as he shares his knowledge and he does. Even in those back and forth contests on here IBS would still offer advice to the poster in the thread. He doesn’t take it personal so why should anyone else. Grow some hair on your sack and laugh it off. That’s all it takes.

@squidskc is the hose poly?

Rubber high pressure hose.

I’ve read alot of posts from IBS on here and over on PT State. He has more experience than anyone on here. He is the pro. And just because he doesn’t give a damn about anyone’s personal issues or feelings doesn’t degrade his character by any means. Ppl need to buck up. I take everything he says at face value and as solid advice. I know from reading he has helped many of the people over the years that are now the vets on this board. I’m new, but needed to be said. Maybe he’ll come back one day and we can all continue to learn.
