Ordered a New Trailer Today

Trailers seem to be a lot cheaper in the south for some reason. I think maybe because everybody and their brother has one or two sitting around.

Weā€™re in north central Florida and 10k 16ā€™ tandem with brakes is 3k and change.

Is that before or after the senior citizen discount. :grinning:

Although, if the senior discount went by laziness instead of age most young adults would get it before you would.

There not much different here in Alabama. Although Iā€™m picking up a used all metal tandem 7x12 for $800.00 just to haul crap in.

I might drive to Georgia for one. Do all tandem axle trailers come with brakes?

Iā€™m no trailer expert, but I would never buy a decent size one without brakes. Names are meaningless in trailers, it is all about the metal thickness, spacing, and welds, wiring and finish are second place to me. I have seen some trailers 1k less than a similar sized one, then you find out that their spacing is wider and that their members arenā€™t as thick and some other stuff and you see why it was 1k less. Almost all of them use the same axle manufacturers. Tires are something to check on, as sometimes they like to put crap tires on, go with better ply tires for loads.

Here is a link to a trailer manufacturer, Iā€™ve never looked at their enclosed trailers though.

I feel like I stole my trailer. Brand new 7x16 tandem in 2018. Pretty sparkly blue paint. Texas Bragg with reinforced tongue. No brakes but those are stupid cheap and easy to add on. Came with decent tires. Bearing buddies.

I found a trailer dealer that was also an FFL gun dealer and I traded him a Remington 870 and $1k cash and rolled away with my new trailer.

And I picked that 870 up used at a gun store years ago for $200. I donā€™t think it had ever been fired.

My first enclosed came with crap tires. Didnā€™t last one year. 2nd mistake was buying tires on Amazon. Didnā€™t last one year. Finally replaced both with legit tires 3 years ago and no problems.

My trailer is rusting out after 5 years. I donā€™t think it will make it to year 6.

For what they cost 5 years is decent for a trailer carrying SH. I wouldnā€™t be upset.

Yeah I beat it up pretty bad. Spilled SH and SH fumes not to mention I live near the shore. I think the rear ramp is gonna fall off next year. Iā€™m gonna take deep look into its viability.

Iā€™m taking a hard look at that Diamond trailers in Douglas Ga. They say tandom axles trailers are #3500. Does that mean for each axle? 7000 lbs total?

Yeah, #3500 per axle. You ave to subtract the weight of the trailer from that 7k to get the actual weight you can carry. You can also upgrade to 5k pound axles if need be but thatā€™s kind of overkill unless you need to haul water. It definitely doesnā€™t hurt anything to upgrade though.

Iā€™m thinking a 275 gallon tote at least half full so I can run two 8ā€™s. Plus other equipment. 7k should be enough.

I bought my 12ā€™ tandem with brakes in Georgia for $1560, from a place called ā€œMax Builtā€. Awesome company to deal with, Iā€™ve been thrilled with the quality. Both are 3500 axles

Youā€™ll Love it. I have a tandem axle 6x12. Itā€™s a great size. You should be able to fit everything you need on it.
