Has anyone tried making a barrel like this into a buffer tank?I believe if I had a 5.5 gpm machine , 55 gallon buffer should do the trick? Or do I need more?

I have that gun. Only used it a few times at high strength SH and it seems like its not going to last. It is awesome while its working perfectly though!

My first “rig” I used a barrel as a buffer tank. It was cheap, but it definitely had its drawbacks. They’re hard to secure properly due to the shape (and also aren’t terribly space efficient for the same reason).

You can only install the float valve so high, or the outlet bung so low. So functional buffer capacity might be closer to 45 gallons or so. You can increase that slightly by installing an elbow on the back side of the outlet bung to draw down a little lower. And I suppose if you got creative with the float valve, you could cut a hole to fit the hudson float to stick up out of the drum.

I found an open top drum with a lid to make installing the plumbing easier. I know some who’ve just cut a hole in the top of a closed drum though, and just patched up the hole afterwards.

I had a handful of questions about what you posted here, but just by scrolling through that thread just a tiny bit they were answered and I know I’m going to learn an absolute ton by reading through the whole thread, thanks for linking that Alex

It can be hard for us newbies to find all these gem threads

I’m still on the original 2315 I started with a whole five years ago😆

It’s always leaked a little, but lately it’s got a pretty good ‘hiss’ going on. Good thing I have a backup.

Anyone have thoughts on which titan reels? Just not sure if should go with 12” or 18”. Stainless manifold I assume.

I have several for years, no issues….I have electric 12”
