Google Voice is awesome, as long as you have cellular data.

It works great on wifi as well. You can even make phone calls over WiFi if you install Google Hangouts. I can even make WiFi calls directly from my laptop using my microphone headphones but you have to use Hangouts to do it. I use it for my Real Estate business with great results.
