I guess it is time to introduce myself. I graduated from high school in 1979 (don’t judge, I’m old). I went to college and grad school for criminal justice and recently retired after 33 years in law enforcement. I have been doing washing on the side since 2016 and will be looking to go full time in the spring (I live in Wisconsin). This forum and those that participate have been an amazing source of knowledge and humor. Every year my business has grown as a direct result of the suggestions and recommendations of all of you. I have been more of a “reader” on here and less of a “poster”, as I don’t feel my limited experience qualifies me to give advice.
Youd be surprised, Give it a shot from time to time , We all get along pretty well here and like to hear ppls different experiences, Thats how we all learn from each other.
Worked six years for Conoco (logistics) and Abbott Labs (sales) before starting my own dry cleaning business, which I owned for 15 years, growing form a single store and one employee to 8 locations and 65 employees before selling. Started a couple of other businesses, then was hired by Procter & Gamble to help with their Tide Dry Cleaners franchises. Somehow I became their Director of IT, which led to a Chief Technology Officer role for a local HVAC company, then COO of a meat distributor and finally, head of IT for a sizeable food ingredients company. I hated it. so now I have a startup residential power washing business and am happily worn out at the end of every day.
