Talked to my brother today, don’t use the ABS he says it gets brittle. He said he won’t use it anymore. On a side note, I went to buy some PVC, man did it skyrocket in cost. The cheaper version will work for a pole holder (DWV). Not meant for pressure. IT was 50 bucks for the grey pvc, forget that.
Yeah, I figured it would just be easier to grab rather then trying to reach in with 2 fingers trying to get a hold of it. I looked at the gray for electrical but wanted it black to blend in better.

I straight up stole your idea - thanks. The only modifications I made are that I put foam in either end of the tube caps to keep the pole from slamming back and forth, and I put a couple of weep holes in case I’m lazy and put it away wet. Most of the roads here can be rough, especially after winter before they patch all the potholes.
I use happy bottom foam, it is designed for pools so it can take Bleach pretty well. Plus I get it for free.
