How to soft wash limestone and what chemicals to use?

OK I’m going to get literal here. How much chemical does your 12 v pull into the hose before it is available at the trigger? I’m planning on purchasing a 12v with 200 ft of hose as well. Mainly for roofs but secondaryily for brick covered in black algae. My ds does nothing to remove heavily soiled brick Chimneys.

These chemicals from Prosoco are about 80 dollars for a 5 gallon mix. Which I’m okay with if they get the job done and I can up sell their need. But i don’t want half my solution in the hose or have to go add water to my tank just to finish applying the mix.

Update: I did the geometry of the volume inside a 5/8 inch by 200 ft hose. The answer is 3.18 gallons.

Please don’t forget the lesson brought up in the other thread. That while SH may clean the limestone it may also discolor it. The stone needs to be posttreated with an acid to neutralize the base of SH or caustic soda.

Looks good anyway

I did a limestone faced house yesterday. Thinking of this thread had me a little concerned. It had a lot of green growth so it needed SH one way or another. I pre wet it and soaked it with about 1%. It took 2 passes and the algae turned orange and scared the crap out of me for a minute. It all blasted off and looked great when complete.

Finally had the opportunity to use the prosoco chemicals for cleaning limestone. The results were very good.

Which chemical did you use? You had quite a few in the picture

That looks great, how long was the dwell time and did it just rinse off with a rinse or did you have to apply low pressure to remove the stains.

I used the reklaim cleaner with the activator. Three parts water, one part reklaim, one part activator. Then I finished by using the Limestone afterwash.

I let it dwell for about 10 mins, keeping the site wet. Agitated the area with a brush about half way through. Then light pressure followed by low pressure rinse. Applied the afterwash and let that dwell for about 5 mins before low pressure rinse.

Looks like they need to fix that downspout

I’ve done several more limestone houses lately. I’ve yet to see any orange that isnt decaying algae that blasts right off. I’ve even had to apply some 12% straight with a sprayer to get a few spots that were very pourous and had deep growth that even 6% wasnt touching. That was an isolated incident due to what was basically a patch of full grown moss. It was ground level

Hey alexgg85 I’m having trouble with a limestone house can you please tell me your process again ?

Do you have hot water ? If so let the surface soak then apply 4% SH let it dwell and then rinse hot water works better on line stone but make sure not to use much pressure if you have to I would be around 1500 Psi you can do it with cold water bit it will take you longer also you can visit the national stone institute and find more information about how to clean different type of stone like precast, limestone etc.
