How do you guys go about taxes, tracking purchases, etc

So here’s my take. I got a grasp on how to wash, schedule stuff synced keep the mechanics of a business running. I am clueless on taxes, payroll etc. And that’s ok. Nor my job. This is a great place to ask very basic questions about washing. Probably not the best place for business, tax, inc/llc/DNA advice. Some of the stuff mentioned above may be great for them. I don’t keep up with mileage because all my trucks are owned by the business. Claiming deductions for an office in your home is flag for an audit according to my accountant. It’s not illegal, but it’s a flag. Take some business classes. My wife did. Find an accountant you trust. Doesn’t matter if you like them.

Actually that’s not true Surface. A vehicle can be both personal and business. If it’s both you need to keep track of your daily mileage and if the the trip is for personal or business use. The IRS sets a mileage deduction each year. It’s around 52 cents a mile. If you drive a little bit older vehicle it’s almost 2x your actual cost. It’s a very good deal for the business owner. If you use the vehicle exclusively for business you can just deduct all the vehicle expenses instead.

SXZ, just a suggestion. You may want to take a class or at least read a book on setting up a small business. It’s not tough but a little bit of work could end up saving you a lot of money.

We are all hardcore do it yourselfers as business owners and try to do it all. I’d be out of business without a CPA. I just hired a digital marketing specialist because I’ve been saying I’m going to learn it and do it for two years. Be Henry Ford. Delegate to people smarter than you.

It’s life changing.

I think that’s probably the hardest part, delegation. Alot of people look at it as being lazy or not working hard enough, but if you really don’t know what you’re doing…in anything…you are always better off finding someone else who is QUALIFIED to do it than stumbling through it yourself.

Dave, If I had delegated the book order I promised you you would’ve had it sooner. I can’t apologize enough. The book is on its way.

Oh man. I wasn’t even thinking about that when I replied. I just mean that the business owner, type A person is hard driven and motivated and that delegation is often the farthest option from the mind. I have a hard time with it, in life and the FD. But honestly it’s what best in certain situations

I know you didn’t mean it that way. I just felt like a turd for promising something and dropping the ball.
