Housewashing process by the guy who can't burn metal

It’s kinda crazy right?

So I have a jrod on my 3500 5.5 gpm machine. I get 10%sh. I don’t feel that when I down stream straight SH and elemonator in my general pump 2.1mm orface injector im getting much potency on the house fully opened. Would an xjet be way better. May not be letting it dwell long enough. Not too sure what the best recipe is

I don’t like the x-jet unless it’s a stucco or dryvit house. But you can get a high flow injector or you can try 12.5% if you can find it. IBS recommended the 2.1 injector to me for the new 7 gpm machine. You may have one too big. Do a search. This topic pops up from time to time.

What’s your draw rate?

To be honest I’m not too sure. Which is dumb that I dont know.

So please remedy and let us know.

Best way to find the draw rate? Fill 5 gal bucket and see how long it takes to empty it? Also why would I need a smaller injector,if i feel that im not getting a strong enough mix@squidkc

Wow. $379. That’s impressive. I have to say I am a little jealous. I need to charge more.
I guess you don’t get it if you don’t ask. You obviously are doing things right. Good job.

He may have told me that because I was going to buy 225’ of continuous pressure hose. I have to default all machine questions to the others on the forum. Take me advice on machines and technical stuff 10% of the time I give it. Lol

use a stop watch. run your machine for 30 sec or a min. see how much it fills up bucket. convert to ounces.

drop your injector in something with exact measurements and see how much it pulls in the exact same time

Divide. That will give you your draw rate. know that number. That also helps if you ever think your ds injector not working you can check it.

Whole process should take you less than 3 min.

Thank you racer. I’m looking for your video on house washing at this moment aswell.

…what the heck? I get more volume and greater pressure through my M5XJet than I was getting from my DSI, and I can adjust the nozzle on the fly. What’s more, Brodie, YOU’RE the very person who put me on to the XJet and I couldn’t be more grateful. So, @squidskc, my question to you is, why do you limit your XJet to just stucco and dryvit (and roofs)?

To much pressure, slows down the washing as you have to carry around a pail. It doesn’t increase flow.i used one exclusively for a couple of years until I discovered downstreaming

My process is pretty similar. I will hook up to the water spigot as soon as I’ve said hi to the customer. I like to start washing with a full tank.

I do pre-wet vegetation unless it has rained overnight or is still rainy/misty.

I work solo, so I’m usually only soaping two sides at a time, unless it’s a tiny modular or something, then I’ll soap the whole house at once.

A trick I discovered just the other day, for getting a stronger mix with my DSI, is to throttle down the machine and use smaller spray tips for applying the soap. I’m running an undersized injector, so it will pull a higher concentration at a lower flow rate. This place really needed it:

I have an xjet, but I’d rather mess with the throttle than a bucket and extra hose, lol.

A couple other variations/details on my process:

  • I use the injector bypass instead of the nylon 3-way for everything but the final rinse.
  • As I work my way back towards the trailer during the final rinse, I will shutoff the flow to the buffer tank, so I’m not dumping a whole tank when I leave. I can usually time it so I’ve just got 15-20 gallons left when I’m finished, which I will just leave in the tank.

But… the other day this backfired on me, because I completely forgot I had shut it off, and panicked when the machine shut down, thinking I had run the well dry or something, lol. Took me a minute to figure out what I had done

Hmmm, so there are several variables that I need to isolate to figure out why my DS experience was so miserable. I was downstreaming when I started on that chimney.

The bucket IS a PITA, but I still hesitate to get reels and hose that will up my game because I am not ready to commit to a trailer or dedicate my pickup exclusively to work. I know this is where I’m heading, I’m just not there yet. As for too much pressure, at full fan I can place my hand in front of the nozzle 18-24". AND, my efficacy has gone way up since I began using the XJet.

So I will invest some thought into why my DSing was bad and eventually isolate the cause(s), and maybe put my DSI and JROD back into my arsenal. For now, I’m all XJet. IBS, thanks again for your help.

For that chimney you needed the xjet. It does pull more chems. 95% of the time downstreaming is all u need

The power of the “9” is like a mythical unicorn.

My residential slam dunk numbers are:

$299
$399
$499

Downstreaming is so much faster and saves chemical on vinyl and painted siding. On stucco the soap has to be a lot stronger to tackle the algae/mildew.

I say that all the time on the forum.

If you like the x-jet for vinyl I can show you how to speed up even that process like an X-jet wizard. I don’t like lugging buckets of mix either. Even on our stucco strip malls we draw soap straight from the chem tank and use a 70 foot poly draw hose.

See! Everyone look! KMP has set good prices and it works. Can’t be afraid to ask for what you want. Better to get one house at $300 than 2 at $150 every time.
