Hose Reel Mounting No Welding

That electric motor hanging in the side of the reel is heavier than you might think. I didn’t want to chance it rocking loose.

It was changed. All good now.

Yeah, I figured out it had been changed after I sent that.

Wait til you’ve been doing it for 15 years, it’s more tiring than satisfying.

Hey, so how is this reel mount holding up? Is your pressure reel mounted the same way?

Getting ready to mount mine and not ready to make the location permanent with welding. Got a local mobile guy who can weld for me when I am ready to make it that permanent (probably when I get a bigger trailer).
Thanks
Thanks much!

Solid as a rock. It doesn’t move twist etc. I’d do it the same way again.

I just did a google search for that and came up with not much as far as screws go… but did come up with threaded rods…

I don’t know that much about hardware though… is that simply an x long by 1/2 diameter threaded rod with locking nuts on the top and bottom?

gotta go shopping tonight after the day job, so I can spend tomorrow finally attaching and hooking stuff up on the trailer.

Really appreciate your guidance

I bought 1/2" all thread and then cut it to fit. I used the biggest fender washers I could find on the bottom. I used a wood paddle drill to make the holes in the wood. I cut the top piece to fit the bottom of the reel , marked the hole locations and drilled the holes. I used those holes as the template for drilling the vertical support pieces and the holes in the trailer floor. The electric motors are heavy and mine has a odd balance point because of the motor. Make sure you leave yourself room to turn the crank when you mount it.

Thanks!

All thread and threaded rod are the same. I know Lowe’s calls it threaded rod but Fastenal calls it all thread. I’ve always called it all thread. The only reason I know Lowes calls it threaded rod is I just bought a 6’ stick of 3/4" today. All thread or threaded rod is basically just a really long bolt but without the head. One long piece of threaded rod. You have to buy the nuts and washers separate.

Where’d you get the reel from?

It’s a Summit Reel. It came with my trailer. The reel works great but the finish on them sucks. Constantly touching up the paint etc. That is 200’ of Flexizilla water hose and I have 300’ of pressure hose on my other reel.
