Does your machine smoke? Could be burning oil.
You’re really lucky you didn’t throw a rod. At least check oil once a week but daily is even better. You never know if there could be a small leak. Something like a loose oil filter could loosen up even more on your way home one night.
It probably does now. 
May not smoke but I bet that valve train in clattering like an old timey spoon dancer

I bet there’s a nice blue tempering on just about every internal part now. It’ll be another saga of Brock’s adventures. First a belt drive pump that was just too complicated, then gutters that just won’t come clean, then Oxalic that’s 10x as toxic as what a literal chemical expert says it is and now a nice warped block to top it all off. Stay tuned!

To be fair, I would probably be disgruntled too if I had just learned that I may have unknowingly caused serious damage to a piece of equipment that I depend on to earn my livelihood. Although, I don’t get the desire to talk on the phone with another man this late in the evening. Unless it’s @garry.cooper. I enjoy our late night conversations.
