Ok, I have not found this answer anywhere online. The question is, “Can I add a gearbox to my beltdriven pump?”. Its the GP series 47, 5.5gpm, solid shaft and motor is 13hp 1in solid shaft. I currently have a pump on it thats leaking a small bit if water, and might have leaked a minute bit of oil, and Im turned off at the idea of replacing the piston oil seals and spending more cash on the water seals. Ive got extra gp beltdriven pumps.

I have seen those gear pumps.
Dont know too much about them, but it seems to me that adding more moving parts creares more chances to brake down.
All moving parts will eventually will wear and tear and would need to be replaced.
A belt can be replaced easier and get from any auto parts

I hear ya. It’s relatively cheap for me since already have the pumps. Also, iit looks like its simply a conversion, the pump can go back to belt driven duty no problems. My only concern at this very moment is how do i make sure i get the new improved box.

My next machine is going to be a 8 gpm gear drive Udor on a Honda.
