I’m not sure what your definition of lots of roofs is. I’m just saying that’s what we do been in business since 2006 and never have any problems. The minute you do enough roofs to run into the homeowner who knows more about roofing than you think and you give him a estimate based on square foot and he tells you that you are wrong you will not guess anymore. Now if you dont qoute by the square have at it
I can barely understand what you’re trying to say here but if a potential residential client told me my estimate was wrong I’d tell them that that’s my price and if they’re not happy with it then they can seek another contractor. Also how many homeowners are experts on the roof wash market? My guess is barely any at all.

Even though I somewhat estimate roofs by square foot I don’t put it on the estimate for the customer to see. That’s just to give me a baseline for my price. I then add in other factors to that price.They don’t need to see that.

Everyone does business differently. Just figure out what works for you and stick with it. In the end it’s your company’s reputation. Different doesn’t make it wrong.

I don’t even include square footage in my quote. Here is my price to clean your roof. Simple

I hear you. We all have our own processes. I just find the less details you put in the estimate the less they’re going to nitpick it and question it. Most don’t seem to care about anything but the final price and the results anyways.

Like @roofer, I have done some insurance adjusting as well. Eagle view is used every day by dozens of firms and hundreds of adjusters. I think you can get a business account set up and have a per roof deal of I’ve heard as low as $15/roof. This will help on those seriously large and complex roofs and you will get very detailed measurements. All done from a satellite within 24-48 hours. That won’t replace a good eyeball test for the “other” factors at play but for measurement alone, very accurate. There are other companies that do this as well so you can also shop around.
