Yeah, that didn’t make much sense to me either. Changed mine out right after I bought it.
For the few mins it’s running to suck stuff up, it ain’t gonna hurt a thing. There’s an optimal operating range anyways, not just full throttle. I just throttle down to just below full throttle. Enough to lower the gpm, but still within operating range. Just takes about 200 rpms less to drop 1 gpm.

I put mine in the vice today to take the nipple out and broke a fin off

Actually, taking all the fins off the bottom might not be a bad idea. It sucks good like it is, but on concrete, being able to get it a little closer to the surface wouldn’t be a bad thing.
Today I used the sludge sucker with the new 0080 orifice and I was surprised how much better it worked. Like night and day. Definitely worth the $5 upgrade if you have a larger machine then 6gpm.
Could have used one today. Corner of this lady’s patio kept backing up with surface cleaner runoff.
