Fat Boy Bandit Trouble

I checked the air pressure last night and it was down to 5psi. I pumped it back up to 10, and I’ll be testing it this afternoon to see if that fixed it. I’ll let you know. Thank you, Thad

Update:

I let my battery charge completely, reset the air pressure on the accumulator to 10 psi and then tried it out. It seemed to work fine, but that only lasted about 5 minutes, then the problem came back and the relay blew. I put a brand new relay in and it blew immediately (hopefully Bob will credit that on for me) I had one more relay, so I stuck it in there and the pump worked, but it still had the same problem with the pump not shutting off…I’m out of ideas and patience…Does anyone have any more ideas?

(I’m about ready to pay somebody to come pick up this piece of garbage so I can make room for some working equipment!)

Bad switch? How does the wiring look?

What are you thinking it might be a bad pressure switch? All the wiring looks good. When I talk to Bob tomorrow I’ll see if that is a possibility. Thank you!

Sorry… Just started using voice to text. I don’t know where the word “what” came from!

Re-check accumulator psi, you may have a pin hole in the bladder. What type battery are you running? Never heard of problems like this with the Bandit…we run 3 of them.

I’m running a group 24 deep cycle. I’m gonna try Bruce Sulivan’s relay and accumulator bypass. If that doesn’t work, I’ll be getting an air pump this week.

I forgot to mention, I checked the pressure and it was the same as yesterday, so I’m assuming it’s holding air

Did you get it figured out yet? I’ve run the fatboy pumps with an accumulator and a 3 way ball valve for years with no issues, but I’ve never had a bandit from bob.

Thanks for checking Jason! I ended up going with Bruce Sullivan’s relay bypass, and it’s working like a champ! I did get a new pump because I was still getting a lot of surging and I couldn’t figure out why…I think it’s the pressure switch. The pump that came on the Bandit has a different pressure switch than what comes on the Fatboy normally, even though it’s the exact same pump otherwise (I’ll post a picture ASAP so you can see what I mean)

I’m gonna experiment with a new pressure switch on the old pump though, just to see if that was the problem. I have a roof lined up for Wednesday, so I couldn’t take the chance that it wouldn’t fix the problem.

I’ll let you know how the experiments work out as soon as I get a chance to work with it.
