Facebook ad - contest

Exactly you will see some form of advertising i dont care who you are and what you do

My understanding is that FB figures out what your interests are based on what you post and what groups you belong to, and possibly who you’re friends with.

Advertisers give FB keywords of what their ads are about. Then FB matches up the ads with people who are interested in those topics.

I’m not sure if Envirospec even has the ability to stop displaying their ad on your feed. They’ve told FB they want to advertise to people interested in pressure washing. FB has figured out you’re interested in that topic. So they show you that ad

Also, the way I understand it, just because an ad shows up in your news feed, doesn’t mean that your friends see that ad when they go on your page. It’s sort of “for your eyes only”, since you’re the one interested in the topic they’re targetting.

Still sucks. I like Facebook too stay in touch with family mainly. I learned how to unfollow people so I don’t have to see much on it most of the time

I hear ya. Sad truth though:

Yea, but there no stopping them. If I don’t post an ad, then someone else is gonna take up the Realstate so what’s your point? People don’t mind relavant ads for the most part and if they do they can scroll down like they always do.

I’m trying to come up with the wording. Here is what I have so far. I want to keep it short and simple.

FREE Contest!

Dirty Driveway Cleaning Give Away! It’s simple, just post a picture, like and share. The winner will be selected on Friday, August 10th.

You can nominate yourself, or a neighbor.

The requirements to enter are:

  1. Post a picture of the driveway in the main thread, and name the owner if not you.

  2. Share this post

  3. Like GulfSouth Pressure Pros Page

*up to 3,000sqft.

3,000 sq ft… that’s a 100 yard driveway.

Either way I know your excited but it won’t work. Sorry to be blunt. Someone will get their drive cleaned but it’s not going to spark your business.

If you targeted previous customers through a mail chimp campaign it may.

But joe and Susan don’t care about a free driveway cleaning…they want a free Yeti cooler.

I’d make it a stipulation they have to share the post, every person that shares it is reaching hundreds of different people

It is a good idea in theory… My wife and I talked about it but with house algae. The problem is that most people will not want to post a picture of their property looking that way. The ones that do are not likely customers that would have called you for service in the first place.

Give it a try! No harm can come!

I did a contest years back where in late fall I made a FB post that whoever guessed the yearly total snowfall in the comments won $100 in free plowing or $50 cash. (they took the cash and I never gained a single customer from it)

See my last post. It will be a requirement

Lol, marketing. Trial and error. Can’t win them all.

I feel like you would want to hide who is submitting their photos, so that people scrolling don’t see that nobody is posting stuff, because then they probably won’t post. I wouldn’t be surprised if nobody responds to your offer.
Unless you magically get hundreds of photo posts people are gonna be like oh my gosh I MUST WIN, and then will post. You would need a first poster.

That is great. I see where you’re going with this. Good input

Keep in mind there are two different kinds of marketing. Marketing for branding and marketing for sales. Marketing for branding is a long-term game. You want to be building your brand while also driving sales, which is why you need to be advertising both ways. We are currently running a contest for a free deck wash for July. We will spend $30 on this one add. So far we have reached over 1,000 people, had 184 engagements on the add and have added 44 people who are now following our page.

You can also write off the cost of the deck wash for tax purposes at the end of the year.

I wonder how many people seen your ad but didnt contact you for a quote because they are waiting to see if they won.

I’m sure most of the people that commented fall into that category. It’ll be interesting to see how many if any request a quote after the contest is over and they didn’t win.

I find that we ran a few specials this summer and I have had multiple people call me asking when we are running our next special. Kinda the same trap! People hold out for free or cheaper every time…

People love to feel like they are getting deal. Usually the only deal we give is a small discount if they go with multiple services.

Just make sure it doesn’t show up on ibs’ Facebook feed

I think I’m going to start giving away free house washes to people that have an appointment booked with the moron who keeps driving down the prices in my market. I like making new friends. I hope we slow down enough for me to do it.

Does anyone else have info on fb advertising? I am setting up my fb page now. Mainly for reviews etc.

But why not advertise as well? The rates seem reasonable compared to my current avenues. Focusing on number of people to reach. I would love to get jobs from it. And I really would like to build awareness/company recognition.

If anyone has feedback what works or didnt work for them in their market. I would appreciate it. What have you done would do different etc? TIA.

The business/marketing side of this forum could use a lot more info imo.

Work is easy running a business is the hard part.
