@mikehallyall - right - these aren’t glass at all and the dirt on them is organic so to me, it’s like a housewash - not gonna see any streaks on these babies unless you go up onto the roof! - Thanks for the feedback Mike.
sends pics when you are done and let us know how it went, be safe up there!
@shaunKLEENRITE - will do!
Finally finished last night. That was a hot job! (95 yesterday here)
As it turns out, the stains just laughed at house-wash mix and some even at 4%! I was able to get it though and it came out looking pretty good. When I scoped it out last week, there was a panel that wasn’t secured - the storms we had here took care of that - the panel was ripped off - that’s why you see the black tarp covering the end 4 or 5 panels.
Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions - it’s great to have somewhere to ask for suggestions and you guys always come through!
Did you brush it, or just let the SH do all the work?
Both actually. When I started with the first few panels, I applied about 3% and brushed - very slow process. Then, with the next set (about 5 at a time) I hit as far as I could reach standing with about 1500 psi - which took it off with a couple of passes (I hit it with 3% prior to) and noticed that the more I let it dwell, the easier the top sections came off. I then ended up hitting the top sections with 4-6% and after maybe 20 minutes of dwell was able to get a lot of it to move with my M5 with one foot up on the panel (essentially doing lunges which I’m paying for today - in addition to climbing the ladder too many times!) I blew a hose, my 12v eventually ended up not pulling SH (water and surf but no SH so troubleshooting that this weekend - pump stops until demand but there’s gotta be a leak somewhere…) In the end, I think that hitting with strong SH, 15-20 minute dwell and using the M5 would have done it. I made sure to wet the panels down before I started - mainly to cool it down so I wouldn’t just flash the SH off when I hit it, but also just to get things flowing and reduce the strength of the SH just in case.
Nice work. Looks good. Some good info in this post for everyone.
Thanks Rick! Coming from you that means a lot. I made sure to move the dirt away from the perimeter based on suggestions you made in other posts.
(I’m glad to be on to something else - that was very hot work!)
