Downstream Injector not working when machine is on

Still don’t understand what you mean by fixed injector. I’m pretty sure that’s what I currently have. Photos or links would be greatly appreciated.

Fixed means you cant turn it up or down as for as how much it will draw. The one you pictured has a screw cap where the draw tube is connected and can be turned up and down. These typically go bad fast.

So I ordered an adjustable and one fixed DS injector, plugged the original one with a bolt, and I still can’t get the damn thing to work. The adjustable one worked for a minute, but then stopped. Do I need to get my pump looked at or what?

What size injector did you get? What length of hose are you using?

Plugging the injector, provided you removed the orifice, is always hit and miss. Replace the pump and be done with it.

They are both 3/8”

It is brand new- why did it just stop working? It is still under manufacturer’s warranty. Is there a way for them to fix my current pump? My current pump is pictured below…

Not trying to be ugly, but you have a garbage pump. Trying to jury rig an injector into an injector isn’t going to change anything. If you are a homeowner, go to home depot and get another washer. If you are a contractor, quit.

@Innocentbystander is right…you have a garbage pump with an unloader and chemical injector built into it. If either goes wrong your pump is basically done. It’s best to get a pump that you install your own unloader and DS injector on…much cheaper to replace those parts than a whole pump. If you have a gx390 just put a direct drive general pump (EZ4040g I think)…probably 1 inch shaft (but check) that bolts right on. You can even get them fully plumbed with an unloader from JN Equipment or Dultmeier

You’re not the first to run into these circumstances with a bad or even a good pump. John Lange for one ran into this. Sorry, I don’t have more helpful information. :confused:

If you haven’t done it I would take apart the injector to inspect it. If needed I would swap it out with another new injector.

Ok, I guess I’ll just end up doing that. I’m sure it’ll void the additional 5 year warranty, but if it’s my only option, it is what it is. You recommend changing the entire DS injector the next time it goes bad after I install the new pump? Or can I just change out the head, ball, & spring?

I believe you can change the ball and spring but first I would check if something is stuck or blocking it before anything. I would definitely replace the injector before the pump. I work through things one step at a time. That’s just me though.

Ok- found my pump. This one look ok? Pretty good price.

If you can invest a couple hundred more, I would go with a Udor pump. Maybe a 5 gpm if you can set up a buffer tank for it.

As long as that pump fits the specs of your motor…does seem like a good price. You also want to flush your DS injector with water when your finished for the day. Just stick your siphon line in a bucket of fresh water and do your final rinse or just flush all the soap out of the line for a minute or so…it will last much longer. You’ll need 3-5gpm fixed DS injectors. I always keep a few extra injectors in my toolbox ready to go

Alright, guys. Bought the new General EZ4040G pump, put all the appropriate fittings on, and got the downstream injector working again. Oh, & I found out why the new DS injector wouldn’t work- it really helps to have it facing the right direction!!! I guess I’m an idiot, but they ship it to you with a male quick connect & my pump has a female- just thought you put them together, but I had to flip the connections around. Thank you guys for all of the help!!!

Glad it’s working for you. That’s a common newbie mistake with the injector pointing the wrong way. The injector or unloader would fail at some point anyways on that old pump making it useless. Much better set up now and should last you a while. Like mentioned earlier, flush your injector with fresh water after a job and it will last longer, don’t stay off the trigger much more than a minute so the pump doesn’t heat up…and try not to start or shut off the engine with pressure trapped in it…squeeze trigger when starting or have ball valve open.
