Did I ruin my driveway? How do I fix this?

I’ll toss the post so others don’t read :+1:

Are you sure you didn’t use a 0 degree tip? That doesn’t look like 40 deg unless you went 2” above the surface and left to right inline with the fan spray… post a pic of the tip you used, spray side facing up

Basically don’t get stuff from stores, use it, and return it.

That’s despicable! That’s on par with sanitising siding and eaves because of a respiratory virus, shame on you.

@Seandz I just posted a picture of the nozzle I used. I’m fairly confident this is the 40 degree nozzle. I think my mistake may have come from how close I was to the surface. I started out farther away and it wasn’t really doing anything so I moved closer and closer until the grime started coming off (apparently I got too close). As a rule-of-thumb, how far from the surface do I want to stay? Of the 40 degree nozzle wasn’t getting the job done, should I have dropped to the 25 degree nozzle but maintained the farther distance from the surface?

@Seandz Also for the surface cleaner I just bought, I assume that I don’t need to worry about how “close” to the surface I am because the cleaner will maintain the proper distance for me… Is that correct? Below is a pic of the surface cleaner I just purchased.

Surface cleaners will remove cream coat too, especially smaller wand attachment ones like pictured above. You need to have an idea what kind of pressure you’re getting at your nozzles. Some concrete needs 2500+ psi, but a lot of newer concrete must be done with either a wand and low… very low pressure (500-1000) or a surface cleaner but you must switch out for the proper tips to again get (500-1000). Finally, it doesn’t sound like you’re using SH to pre-treat and post-treat the concrete which would keep you from having to get as close to the surface. It can also look like you’re removing dirt when it’s really cream coat. With all this said, unless you’re willing to learn about these processes as a homeowner, it really is best to hire someone who does this for a living. Best of luck.

Going over it slowly with the surface cleaner really helped to even out the damage and make it look less noticeable. Thanks everyone for your help and input, seems like a great community y’all have here!
