From my research and learning from Everett Abrams he says to always thoroughly prewet the wood because we want to clean what’s on the surface not have the wood suck the sh into it. He has a video that shows it with pre-wetting and without the pre-wetting and the wood that was not prewet has more of a white bleached out look to it in the end. His first step of 4 in the cleaning process is to wet the wood. I know I am not a pro with wood yet but that makes sense to me, and his videos showed why.
Well, sometimes a customer wants some moss taken off a north facing roof, so I’d say about 20’ or so.
I’d actually like to build a cheap 12v sprayer on a cart, someone on here posted a picture of theirs.
For doing decks etc it’s pretty good turn it to stream and get about 10ft overhead. But the make an extension for the wand.
You’ll need to get on the roof and apply liberally using the fan or use a 12v. It’s definitely in your best interest to do that whole side of the roof.
Don’t get up on anyone’s roof with a pump up sprayer bud, your more important than there soiled roof. If you see yourself marketing and pushing the roof cleaning sales more, invest in a 12V pump like @anon37135677 said. you’ll be able to splash and dash real quick and have the comfort of hitting the peakes at the pull of a trigger.
Yeah I need to fabricate something, three times last year I had to use a pump up to ‘erase’ those black streaks and kill big clumps of moss. Problem is I don’t have room in my tiny trailer for a true 12v setup, so I like the idea if a roll-around cart. Maybe.
I don’t actually walk on a roof, just put a ladder up to it and do my best from gutter level.
Here’s the link to a step-by-step pump in a box build thread, including wiring diagrams. It’s for a 2 gpm pump for window cleaners to use. Just upsize the parts, wiring, and battery accordingly for your pump size (and no, you don’t need a relay or an expansion tank…I’ve been using the same pump now for two seasons without either).
Here’s the link for the battery I’m using with mine:
I don’t even carry any pump sprayers anymore, I only keep a couple on hand in my shop in case someone who won’t build a pump box needs to borrow one at some point. (When they come to pick it up, I’ll explain that they could have built a pump box in less time, LOL)
Post some pics of your trailer inside. Haven’t seen it since your first got. Know you’ve done some upgrades on equipment.
It’s a disaster, I know. When I get a chance I’m going to have Southside take a look to rearrange a few things.
Get a wall mount for the spare tire, build a stand out of angle iron to elevate your skid enough to put the gas tank and battery underneath it, build a couple pocket shelves where you can keep uniform sized jugs, etc in them. There’s a lot you can do. Just make sure you open up as much floor space down the middle as possible so you can access everything.
Pocket Shelves:
What William said. You can get a lot of that stuff up off the floor and stored on top of one another via shelving or compartments.
Build up. You can get the majority of that stuff off of the floor. You’ll free up room and it’ll be easier on that back of yours.
