I’m saying don’t use a tank with direct drive

Right, but why?

I do the same thing, two direct drives off the same buffer…never an issue and I even run the tank almost dry sometimes.

I have 2 gear drives and a belt drive sitting at the shop…just been waiting for the direct drive pumps to burn up like everyone tells me they do. Year and a half on one pump (full time 7months a year) and 2 seasons on the other one.

I have 2 General Pump 4.5 GPM pumps and one is over 4 years old. I replace the seals every other year and I’ve replaced the check valves in it also but it still runs strong. The other one is only a year old so I don’t know about it yet. I personally just don’t like messing with belts and guards, that’s why I haven’t upgraded.

It went great, everything went as planned. Happy customer. I’ve since did a different one that was way worse. When I left it looked like crap bc I didn’t rinse. The customer was hesitant but I explained to him that the rain would rinse it away. He texted me after the first good rain how happy they were and sent pictures. Thanks to @Racer and a few others it’s been a success.

I’m not sure if my cat 4/3000 will ever burn up. Today I went from washing to WFP on a house and both machines were running. I forgot to shut myne off (no bypass hose on my pump to tank, just a small stock one). The washer ran for 30 minutes without me touching the trigger. I thought for sure it burned up. Nope, pump is fine.
