You don’t happen to have an expanded thread about this ??

By the time you get everything and mix it all together you could’ve spent $35 to make $350.

You spent 35 to make 750 that sounds good to. But have you Have you ever given pressure tell f8 a chance?@squidskc

@squidskc What type of stiff broom are you guys talking about to use?

The one in the picture towards the top is the Quickie Broom. Very stiff bristled and costs about 8.00 at HD or Lowe’s.

I like citrus degreaser in some cases, But be careful with getting it on your skin! It will burn an leave a white mark

Awesome! Thanks!

Okay, so I purchased the broom and some Zep Purple. As for the process, do you guys clean the driveway first, then apply the degreaser to the spot, brush in, keep soaked with degreaser, then hit with the water, or apply degreaser, brush, hit with pressure then clean the rest of the drive?

@squidskc

I just finished crushing in OIL DRI on a spot for someone in my BNI group 30 minutes ago. Crushing in an absorbent and letting it do it’s thing is better than washing it.

Crush it in. Walk away. Immediate improvement and let the weather handle the rest. The longer the OIL DRI sits without getting soaked the better. I’ve removed more oil stains this way than any other.

But that’s only on fresh oil isn’t it? What about oil that’s been sitting for a while? I have one coming up in two weeks that has been sitting for quite a while. I told them that it’s an upcharge, but that it will not come up fully and will most likely only look lighter.

That spot had been there for months. Most people use OIL DRI wrong. They just sit it on top and hopes it draws out the oil. It needs to be crushed into the pores of the concrete. You can sweep or blow the rest off the top, but I’ve tried every way you can think of to remove grease and oil. Grease needs a propane torch. Seriously. Other oils and petroleum’s need clay pulverized so the smallest bits can do what they do best.

And no matter what method you use there’s going to be a shadow especially when wet.

Fresh oil spill or leak with standing oil… throw the uncrushed OIL DRI on top to soak up the puddle. Scoop it up. Then crush the OIL DRI into what soaked in.

Guys, check out Tidwell Industries out of Lafayette La. We use the hydroclean pro at our facility here in south tx for oil spills. This stuff works very well at breaking down the hydro carbons. It is supposedly epa friendly. I not trying to knock Zep because have never used it, just trying to honestly say this stuff works. Steve Tidwell is the owner and has some very impressive videos on linkedin of his products. Hope this helps.

What does it cost? Because a bag of OIL DRI at Menards is $4.44 and you can reuse what you don’t crush. I’ve been on the same bag for 2 years.

Squid’s right on the process. Kitty litter will work just as well, if not better, and you can buy it in the plastic jugs which makes a little easier to store or tote around.

I just toss mine in a 5 gallon bucket with a $2 snap on lid and an old cottage cheese container for a scoop.

Btw… for future reference for everyone this oil stain was completely removed with oil dri and 2 weeks sitting. No washing. No degreaser.
