Dunno, ask him and see.
I linked a thread above where i swapped out the stock pump on my GX390 with a 5.5 @ 2500.
It’s common knowledge that you can easily get 5+ GPM out of a GX390. I think there’s even a guy that put an 8@1500 on one.
I’ll just buy the parts and ask them to put it together for me. The 5.5gpm gear drive. I am assuming it pulls from a water source.
Is that a good deal though?
Not in my mind. I had an AR for years but the new AR pumps aren’t as reliable I hear. If you are staying with direct drive I would go with a General pump 4.5 GPM at 3000 psi for about $400
Thanks, I am not liking the idea of the low gpm or AR pump based on what I have read. It’s gonna be a back up machine and helper come spring. I am just a bit nervous about the 4.5 and not getting correct flow without a belt or gear drive.
It does.
How much did it end up costing you in the end?
It’s in the thread i linked. Around $800.
I seen it, but did not notice that part. Seems like an easy install. Even for someone who is slightly mechanically declined like myself.
If I do end up going that route i’ll be sure to add it to the thread.
Yeah, gonna go this route. Seems the best bet and is reasonably priced.
I bought 2 mi-t-m pressure washers 1 gx 390 4pm 3500psi and 1 gx390 4.4gpm 2500psi for 600$
Both run and wash great.
Offer up and Craigslist are your friend
This is none of my business, and I have no authority to tell you what to do, so please take my next statement with a grain of salt.
YOU HAVE GOT TO STAY AWAY FROM THOSE GUYS!!!
They are either lying straight to your face with the intention of making money off of you, or they actually mean well and simply don’t have a clue what they are talking about. (My guess is the first one) Either Way, they are gonna take you for a lot of time and money.
Going from direct drive to gear drive is as simple as removing a few bolts, sliding one pump off and the new one on, replacing a few bolts, and installing the new unloader (one connection).
If you decide to do it yourself (PLEASE do!!!), please PM me a day or two ahead of time and we can schedule a phone call and I’ll stay on the phone and help you the whole time. I’m serious about that.
Thanks for being open to this. I know it takes time away from your day and am very grateful for this. I’ll book mark this for future reference.
