Best Places to Purchase SH for the $

No choice really, it is what it is. Best part is we don’t get $99 guys here. We got expensive cowboys lol.

Thats right I’m sure the market supports it because its always been the expensive. We are definitely lucky in the states

It’s a Southern Hemisphere thing, Australia’s prices are about the same yet millions more people and larger economy, no idea the reasoning behind it, I just know you guys have it good over there for consumables.

You’re new to the business, correct? Buy the 55 gallon drum.

Go wash your parents house. Clean their driveway.

Then go wash your next closest relative’s house. Clean their driveway.

Then go wash your best friend’s mother’s house. Clean her driveway.

Then call a local fence company. Ask if they have any old wood fencing panels laying around that you can have. If not, find the oldest, dirtiest, ugliest pallets you can. Test different mixtures and dwell times on those.

Congratulations. You’ve gone through at least half of the 55 gallon drum and in the process of doing that you’ve learned a ton. You may have even been seen by neighbors while you were doing those free jobs and maybe you lined up a few jobs from them. If so, excellent! Be sure to finish your free jobs and learning before you attempt to actually do those. The best part of all of this is it only cost you $50 to learn a ton and get some exposure. That’s an incredible deal. And you still have some left from that drum to use for paying jobs.

The price for SH isn’t bad but $70 for a 15 gal container?! :flushed:

That’s a 5 gallon container :joy:

Its lined with mithril …

This is what I was referring to.

Still expensive do you have to use their container. 15 gallon jug is heavy 3 5s would be way easier to handle

In most areas $2 a gallon is pretty good price I believe.

Well everyone’s pricing is different. You gotta pay what you gotta pay. And the price you pay will directly correlate to how much you buy on the regular. Its the 100 up front is what kills me. He is basically paying 70 bucks for a 15 gallon container that he will have to move its heavy what I was try to tell him is to get 3 5 gallon buckets. Go to the paint store they have the best lids way cheap than 70 bucks plus easier to use

From what I understand, this supplier does A LOT of restaurant business and the FDA is requiring that they seal off their warehouse from customer contamination in the near future. To continue serving clients like myself, it has to be in a FDA pre-approved container. They don’t sell 15g containers and they have a supplier that they are required to use that would cost that much. 55g come in the FDA drum though so no extra costs there.
I’d much rather prefer to do ten 5g containers for easier use but they aren’t going to allow that.

You can buy fda approved 5 gallon containers from uline for like 10 bucks each

I think it has something to do with the filling process for them. Like the FDA requires the supplier to get them from a FDA approved source or something. When I asked about it, they pretty much told me I had to do it their way because they weren’t taking chances.
I’m not going to freak over $70 on a one time purchase for a refillable container when I’m only paying $2/gallon. I’d rather the supplier like me for accommodating them since they are really the only supplier in town or at least at these prices.

I pay almost $4 when I get it from Brenntag in 15gl drums. About $1.89 from a farm store in 1 gl jugs.

Hey man would you mine sharing the name of your local chem supplier? I’ve driving an hour and half to get sh it would really help me out if you were to let me know.

There’s plenty of work to go around for everyone. Just be upfront and honest and a good business person won’t feel threatened, especially if you’re just asking where they source their cleaning solutions.

Hey Brant. When I first started, it took me about 3 months to find my right supplier. It’s just not advertised and you have to call everyone. I probably did around 100 to finally find my source. Just keep researching and you’ll find it.

Old post, but I just wanted to add my SH story for future reference for anyone searching.

Last year ('23) I was hard core looking to start up a PWing business. It didn’t happen, but I don’t regret it. With the politics, economy et al…it just wasn’t right. However, I did contact a long-term PWer (1997) who was selling his setup/rig and getting out of the business. He had gotten a “better job” with great medical and other benefits working for a company that he PWed for.

Anyway, chlorine around here is literally $9+/gal after tax… and it’s seasonal!

Well, the deal between he and I didn’t work out, but, very recently, I decided to text him out of the blue and see if he would tell me where he used to buy his SH… and sure enough, he did!

He’s also been very open and friendly with a lot of other info. He spent about 26 yrs in the industry, so he knows the ropes. Many, but not all, were here locally. I wouldn’t be a threat to him if he was still in the business, but he’s not, so his only real choice has been to help some else out (me) or not.

Not being able to find a year-round, reasonable source for SH has been a major issue for me, mentally, as far as starting up this year, but slowly things are coming together.

There are a minimum of 50 factories within a 50 mile radius of where I sit in this chair. There are 2 chemical supply companies locally…that I am aware of. He sent me to 1 of them.

Make that call. Send that text. Drive over there and walk in the front door. Call your competitors. Steal blindly, my friends. Don’t be shy. Git-r-did. :+1: :+1:
