Best method(s) for reaching 2nd & 3rd stories efficiently

hey Luke I remember those days of wheeling a pressure washer around the house, no fun.

6x12 double axle
one machine is a 8gpm 3000 psi
2nd machine is a 5.5 gpm 3500 psi
225 water tank
200 ft of hose on each reel
2 supply reels
one supply has 100 ft
second supply has 15o ft

I wash houses mostly and use the soap tips actually Guy’s shooter tip is what I use most all the time, most people consider that soft washing.
We do lots of cement and decks also. I will be setting up for roofs sometime in the future, we currently do no do them. This is also only cold water

Thanks for all the good info & pics!

For a 15.00 down streamer you can stay off ladders 90% of the time and not have to move around a bucket of chemical. I use 250 ft of hose everyday and that allows me to park on the street and hit almost any residential house while my solution is safely secured on my trailer. If I absolutely have to go further than that, I just put the down streamer and a five gallon plastic container (not an open bucket) at the end of my first 150ft length of hose. I have used that when doing some town homes. There is no way I would be able to move fast enough with an x jet. Save the x jet for applying solutions that require a higher concentration. Just my.02

Didn’t want to start a new topic. This one fits my needs. So here we go:

I have a 4GPM beltdrive, cold. I ds. And I’m using a standard gun and a 3’ (or so) wand that came with it.

When rinsing I can shoot up to some 25 feet from the ground (I didn’t exactly measure it, but that’s not the point). So this works great on two story buildings with attics.

My question is: if I wanted to extend the reach by another 10 feet or so WHILE in the middle of a job, can I attach a straight lance with quick connects, shoot up high, and then disconnect it and go back to my standard (shorter) wand? Or quickconnecting a lance to the wand is not a bright idea due to some play there at the connection?

Connect away.

Then spray.

It will be okay.

It’s throwback Thursday.

That is how we did it for the first two jobs we had but today there is a better way.

And now I am running out of things to say.

Haha that means I’m on the right path!

I guess the better way is a 8GPM unit?

Hey Tim-- pull it over. Lic/reg/insurance please…lol. Memories.

11 years of memories for me…14 more years of memories ahead (maybe 9).

Hey do you downstream straight SH through a pink tip?

I, too, like to revive 5 year old threads.

Mr. Fields doesn’t come around here too often anymore, but he can be found in some of the FB pw’ing groups.

Colored tips are for homeowners and handymen. Get yourself a jrod or similar nozzle holder along with the appropriately sized tips for your machine.

I run a 5.5 gpm machine and have a 3-way nozzle holder, with a 25°, 5°, and 0° shooter, all in size 40.

Some people prefer the m5 DS nozzle. It supposedly saves them 5 seconds per job or something like that.

Shooter tip from Guy Blackman

M5ds. Then your hands don’t get all bleachy and yucky.

I’m not thrilled with the LP shooter tip I got recently, it must have a defect as it has a little v-shaped spray coming off the main jet. I’ll have to take it back and get another one.

I was a m5 twist guy and never thought I’d switch…

But I gave the j rod a chance and I haven’t got my twist out of the tip box since!

Same. I feel like I can switch nozzles as quick as I can adjust the m5 and my 0040 gets better distance/less mist

I never even bothered to try an Xjet or an M5. I’m definitely not carrying around a fiver and it just seems unnecessary.

And since this thread is derailed, has anyone heard of some racket called housecall pro? Someone sold them my email or they got it somehow. Some cat there named Roland said I entered it in a chat bubble. Whatever that is.

Talking about the m5 DS nozzle. But yeah you didn’t miss out on much not carrying around a 5g bucket around…
