Are you familiar with how to replace packings? Also, are you using a hose to connect to someones line or do you have your own reserve? If you are using a 1/2’’ hose and connecting to someone elses water at 5.5 GPM, you are likely to starve the pump which will cause pulsating. Also check to make sure your oil isn’t low on your pump. A friend of mine just had this problem because he let it run DRY and had to replace his CAT pump.
Thanks for the info! When I tightened up the fittings and started “priming” the pump the problem disappeared…looks like I dodged a bullet!
Hope this helps someone out. Not sure if it was said already but I was just having surging problems. I could see air in my line coming from bulkhead. I tightened everything up check everything and still the same. My fix was my bypass was spewing directly over my bulk head for my intake. So at 100 gallon it was pushing air down and my suction was grabbing it. Full tank I’m good but half down I’m sucking air. My fix was to screw a 90 in from inside the tank to the bypass bulkhead. Turned it away from bulkhead problem solved.
I might have the repair kit for that pump… what model number is it?
