Alternative Surfactant for House Washing

Would you mind posting a link? Actually, I found it:

Hydro Chem Degreasers and Floor Soap

@DantheWindowMan this is the best answer no matter what soap you use. My primary is Elemonator, just ordered a 5gl today, but even with it I try to never mix more than I need for a job. You won’t really find a soap that you can mix a large batch and use for months (or whatever time frame you are trying to achieve). Never mix more than you need for a job no matter what you use.

@DantheWindowMan do you have sherwin Williams in Canada?

Yes I do.

They have a database of stuff they can get. They can get EBC. Show up with a box of donuts, @CaCO3Girl’s list of bleach stable surfactant chemicals, and the msds for Elemonator and fresh wash and whatever else you think you’d like to try, and tell them exactly what you need. Have coffee with the counter guy, let him get after it on his computer machine, and I bet you guys find something that works just fine.

Amen. Most can’t figure out how to set an unloader. Self induced chemistry probably isn’t a good idea lol

I wasnt ever this worried about the stability with bleach. Other than fumes I dont care. I dont really mix more than I need for jobs.

So… Clorox Toilet Bowl Gel Cleaner (greenish gel)… $1.78 per bottle add 1 to 3 gallons of SH (play with what works)… gives nice cling without suds… rinses super clean with nice smell- not masking but you definitely notice a little difference… works awesome for vinyl. Never had an issue with it… Not really sticky enough for roofs but works great for houses, fences and even as a post treatment for concrete… works on the fly…

For any that are reading this and are going to grab their toilet bowl cleaner, STOP!!!

This particular cleaner contains bleach. It is therefore compatible with SH. MOST toilet bowl cleaners contain an ACID! You do NOT want to mix an acid with SH!!!

This has been ANOTHER public service announcement from your resident chemist

But why? If you were in a pinch use Arm and Hammer wOxiclean. Otherwise use a surfactant designed for the job.

According to your profile “new to the industry. Smart enough to know I know nothing…” Please do your best to not spread potentially dangerous advice to others on this forum.

I thought all the nut heads were on the Facebook page

I was clear about Brand. My apologies for not saying NOT to use other brands or specifying that acids could be present in other brands. I dont feel as though I said anything harmful. Thank you for your feedback. I guess nut head is an Industry designation I am unfamiliar with…

it is a reference to people that know nothing about pressure washing yet come on a forum and suggest using toilet bowl cleaner as an additive to bleach

I get that now. Thanks. And for the record, I recommended a clinging bleach gel… actually a bleach product… not some a rust or lime remover or acid based product, or a laundry detergent, a clinging bleach gel that can be purchased at virtually any local grocery store… a safe product that answered the gentleman’s question about our experience with other products. This is a good example of why many do not post anything here. I appreciate the free education but am always hesitant to share… I stand by the recommendation based on what was asked initially. With regard to being a newbie, I am still yes but that doesn’t mean stupid necessarily. I am also college educated and a licensed, insured business owner and will do my best to always research any product I use… for my own good and the good of the client… I do not feel as though I am welcome to share anything here without nonsense.
