Yard sign ideas

My wife and I have a few hundred door hangers we have printed up every couple of months and put them in mail boxes everywhere. We’ve gotten a load of business from doing that.

Yeah. Federal offense. Probably a slap on the wrist for a first time offender, but better safe than sorry. Much better options are the paper boxes if they have them, or door hangers if they don’t. Just saying.

This is the one we do. It’s two sided and has all of our services on the back.

Just a suggestion guys, but maybe you should put DOOR HANGERS on the DOOR, which is legal, instead of in the mailbox, which is not.

I’m not really too concerned about it lol

Wow. Ok. I have to say, I really thought better of you before that post.

Lol if putting flyers in mailboxes makes me a bad guy then somethings wrong… J walking is illegal in many places too but I still do it. I’ve asked many home owners if it’s ok to put flyers in their boxes and they said it was ok. I think most people would be ok with it if you didn’t bother their mail, which we never do.

I’ve forwarded this thread to the FBI. Be sure to send us a letter from Sing Sing, Fixit.

Right on tire! I’m not sweatin it really.

I’m not saying LE should be notified…I’m just saying it’s an unprofessional, hackish way to try to get business. If someone you’ve talked to tells you to put a flier in their mailbox, that’s one thing, but doing that randomly is just not a good idea in my opinion…But it’s your business, do what you want.

FBI will not care. Postal inspector. BUT who cares

I, personally, find it less obtrusive to put a flyer in their MB as opposed to walking up on their porch and fiddling with their door knob. And if I offended anyone with my actions, they had my # to call and complain which out of xxx flyers, not a SINGLE complaint.

I simply do not share the same thoughts concerning this as some of you do. If you want to judge my character based off an honest marketing attempt, have at it. It tells me all I need to know of you, too.

And just to be clear… after reading Section 1725 of Title 18 of the U.S. Code, it’s not illegal to access someone’s MB, the violation is putting mail in a box without paying the postage. It is punishable by fines which consists of the price of postage for each offense…

I’m sorry that my concern about professionalism was offensive to you.

As I said earlier, it’s your business, do what you want.

My wife makes it a habit to not do business with anyone that puts something in or on our mailbox. I’m sure others wives’ do also. If you can’t afford a stamp to do something legal odds are you can’t afford the equipment or training to do a job properly, be it washing, grass mowing, carpet cleaning or whatever else your pitching. I went to a local Chinese restaurant that put a menu on my mail box flag with a rubber band and broke off the flag. Left it in the grass with the stupid menu still wrapped around it. I went to the restaurant and asked for $20. Owner told me no. Next stop was post office. They rode thru every subdivision counting the menus. My local driver told me later that the restaurant got a $800 fine. Bet he wishes he had given me 20 bucks. Be a professional. Don’t break the law to get an advantage over another contractor that is playing by the rules.

Yard signs still sell to this day, and thousands are purchased weekly because they still work. People would naturally stop investing in yard signs if they didn’t work. One of the biggest mistakes that people make when advertising their business is using a sign that is too small or bad designed. My brother bought 10 signs for $65 at stickerz.com for his house washing business, I think by spending $6.50 per sign is a wise investment to build your business over time.

I spent $15 a sign from tim. My wife and I put out 4 signs at 11pm that nignt, by 11am the next morning we booked two jobs at $650 and both said they seen our signs. I’d say that was a good investment.

I can’t wait to get mine in and try them out. At $150 you can’t go wrong. My biggest marketing mistake so far was a TV commercial for $1200 a month that didn’t even pay for itself.

Ordered mine from Tim yesterday, saw the proof today. Now I’m like a kid waiting for a Christmas present!!. Proof looked great and the communication and service from Tim has been top notch.
