Alex, we’re your results improved with signs that say pressure washing? Or a different phrase?

Got too busy to retest with different wording. Plus, I had a limited time window that I could post my signs up at those properties. But I’m guessing “power washing” might perform better in my market. I’ll have to test it out in the spring.

I think I might also make an attempt at branding more. I’m in such a small market, that I think it may actually pay off in the long run to push the business name and logo a little more. We’ll see

Do you guys do any advertising in the PAPER???

I think power wash or pressure wash would be ideal in my market as well. Even after explain the low pressure house wash, the customers still call it one of those, lol.

Yes, $15 is a good price. That was kinda the point of my entire post.

Same here! My “roof cleaning” and “pressure washing” signs get me all kinds of calls. I guess “house washing” hasn’t really caught on with a lot of people yet.

Newspaper is great for advertising! At least 3-6 people read it EVERY day!

Seriously though, some do seem to have some success with newspaper, but it’s well on its way to obscurity. I think the best thing to do is assess your area…are you in an area with a lot of “old school” people who will only give up the paper when it’s “pried from their cold, dead hands”, or are most people in your area already switching to online sources of info? I’m sure there’s some way to find out a given newspaper’s regular circulation numbers. If it IS worth using, it would be best to consider it as a “component” of your marketing plan, and not the entire thing. No matter what, a good, PROFESSIONAL website should be number one on the list.

That’s a great question! I seem to think power washing verses house washing may be more effective. I, too, would like to hear everyone’s opinion on this…

The article you posted definitely helped explain it. I’m gonna order some and give it a shot.

I used to use Pressure Washing on all my ads and go to’s… I saw Power Washing on HERE and liked it.
I then started using Power Washing…
I really get 1 or 2 once got 4 jobs a month on my paper ads.
it was$85 a month 1" gonna try 2" for chits and gilles $140 a month see what that does can go back 1" anytime.

I one time got a $1,000 job from the paper…
and got a sister off that job.

We just placed our order. Thanks, Tim! Can’t wait to try out our new signs!

Big Letters. Big Phone Number. The furrther away from it you can read the pressure washing sign the better. Make sure it says “Pressure Washing”. That and the phone is all you need. Make the phone number smaller and use the space for the pressure washing words. That’s it. That is all you need. Make sure you are aware of local laws and also HOA laws concerning signs.

Good luck,

@Tim4, that was awesome. Ordered my signs Monday evening and got them Wednesday at noon. They look great. Great job. I could never of gotten these signs from a local store that fast.

Next question. Do you put the signs at houses that you have cleaned, sides of roads, intersections or all above? If I put the on the side of roadways I’m afraid the city or county officials will take them.

Thanks for the order and the kind words Boyd.

I started out using these signs in client yards only. (Or maybe friend/family with nice house in good location)

They act as a personal testimonial to folks on the street who know the person that lives in the house. Client yards are where these work the best.

Signs go stale after a while so if possible, move them around after two weeks or so.

There are often codes that discourage signs along the road but most jurisdictions seem quite willing to work with weekend signs. Put them out Friday afternoon and pull them first thing Monday.

We ordered our signs late Mondsy and just got them today. Very quick and great service, Tim. My wife said these are the best signs we’ve got yet. Thanks!

Here is flyer I put in mailboxes on the street/neighborhood of the job I’m doing. I will put one of these 5x8.5" in there… I sometimes put in mail boxes in nice subdivision if I’m in there. I only put in after the mail has ran.
I’m sure its against the LAW to do it but I was a dope smoking law breaking kid 50 years ago…It cost me $60 to get 100 of them made up… Over the years no TELLING how many calls I HAVE GOT…
