Will 1/2" Pentair valves pull soap for DS

I want to use my Pentair valves for SH mix for Down Streaming only. Problem is they are 1/2" valves. Can I use a 1/2" drop stick in my chem tank up to 1/2" Pentair valve to 1/4 hose barb to my Shertz box then Chemical injector? Will the chemical injector be able to pull soap?

Yes that’s what I do.

Great to hear.

That’s what I’ll be doing this season

What am I missing? Why would you use that instead of the more standard method? (Hoping to learn something new.) I’m always interested in improving my setup.

What are you referring to when you say the standard method?

I want to use a chem tank instead of mixing in a bucket or batch mixing in a tank for DS. To control the strength of my mix I will use a valve between my tank and my injector.

Makes sense. I want an air pump/perportioner first since batch mixing takes more time for me on that end. Really happy to find out I can do the same on the DS side. Thanks for explaining!

Down streaming.

So you’re putting a proportioner valve on your downstream drop tube?

Yeah. I usually make my mix for every house in a 5 gallon bucket. I like to change it’s strength from house to house depending on how dirty it is. I got a new trailer (enclosed) and I want to keep it nice. So I will be pulling from a chem tank. I want to meter my mix for ds so I am trying a Pentair valve.

Is that a half inch banjo 3 way? If so did you put 1/4" barbs on it? I like that. I’m using the Shertz box for my 8gpm but I need a 3 way for my 5 gpm.

@Clean_Blue yes it’s a 1/2 inch 3 way valve with a 1/4 inch barb to the injector.

So you will basically be micro tuning the range from 0-2% depending on your injector draw rate between homes? I would bypass all this and just run mixing valves, dial in what you want and straight into the bucket, need more than 2%? Uncoil the hose further and shoot it with a 12v. Or am I missing something here?

It’s just for convenience. Simply turn the valve to lighten up your mix instead of messing with buckets or anything else.

I want to get rid of the buckets and just turn a dial. If I don’t like it I can always go back. I have a 12v to pull from chem tank to fill buckets if I want or as a back up.

Roger that.
