What’s the best material to fix this? I’m thinking some sheet metal and rivets.
I want to fix this and use it until I can’t anymore. Meanwhile I’ll have a spare for when the day comes.
Looks good. I see you went with bolts and nuts. Any reason not to go with rivets?
I could actually use the extra weight. I have a 2.5lb weight on it now.
It’s heavy… could double as a boat anchor.

Nuts and bolts were handy.
You could plastic weld it with a heat gun and some similar plastic. Kayaked for decades, you drill a small hole at the very end of the crack and melt/weld in a strip of plastic.
