What are You Wearing?

Yep, the Wood restoration category is just a trap. There’s nothing racy about this topic but the title. I just bought some nylon pants and polyester shirts on Amazon because the SH is murder on my clothes. SO, what are YOU wearing?

Just wondered how the seasoned pros deal with bleached out clothes. I put a dab of straight SH on the inside of the cuff of the Wranglers and find it almost not noticable. I’m washing a house tomorrow, and the yard is so small that it’s a verticle spray. I’ll report on the pants tomorrow night.

I wear polyester shirts and Dickies cargo pants. I love my dickies pants. They hold up to anything.

Are you hitting on us?

But seriously though. My uniform is tan. Tan dickies shorts and tan dickies button ups ( like what a mechanic wears)…but tan. Anyways the bleach doesn’t faze it. After heavy use the shorts fade but don’t change color. the shirts are bleach proof. Maybe its the color or the lining they spray on the clothes, I dunno but it works.

I have clothes I do bids in and clothes I work in. I always have a logo’d collared shirt in the truck but since I mostly stain fences nothing is immune. SH does do a number on things and I have learned to live with it but trust me when I say stain is worse than SH.

I’m more concerned about bleach burning skin than clothes fading out … I wear dickie pants for now but I am going to try rain pants over them … I have a rash on my calves I think from the bleach … itches like crazy …

Dickies shorts and 50/50 logo tshirt

Faded glory 80% polyester, 20% cotton shorts from Walmart, and sport tek 100% polyester shirts, which I got from the company that printed our shirts via dyesublimation or w.e. you call it

I rock the khaki colored 5.11 pants, polyester polo’s, and Redwing Pecos. Bleach hasn’t dyed my polyester shirt’s for some reason.

because its plastic

Fast drying, loose fit wicking white shirts. Logos sublimated in. They work just fine with SH, but I buy cheap jeans a few times a year. I prefer jeans to work in and know there’s definitely better, but what can you do.

I do the same as Mark (@MDA1775). I carry two work shirts and change between houses and I always have a clean shirt, never been worked in for estimates.

I really like the pants that I linked to at the beginning of this post. Worn them now for two days, and they’re comfortable and professional looking. I think mine were about $25, because I wear 38X34. Waiting for long sleeve weather to try out the polyester shirts, and I’d REALLY like to find some with a pocket. ANYBODY seen anything like that?

Oh, I’ll check out the Dickies cargo pants. Maybe I can find them on Amazon…

I keep a change of clothes in my ditty bag for me or who ever rips their britches or something. I wear overalls or wrangler ripstock cargo pants.

I have the same problem on my forearms.

Try this. It has helped a ton. Bought mine at whole foods but i think target sells it too.

Despite Racer’s public display of Jackassery LOL. It finally got cool enough with the 30 mph winds for me to drag out the Tyvek suit today when I was cleaning a fence. Usually associated with painter’s it’s a cheap over garment for SH and other chemicals. It’s not completely water proof but it works pretty well protecting your clothes and skin for most over spray issues. BTW Rick, next time put the potato in the front:slight_smile:

Well fellas, those wrangler nylon cargo pants failed me,

and the polyester shirt picked in several places, so both’re a bust.

TYVEK? I’m in! That’s a GREAT suggestion. Lightweight, breathable, and impervious to SH.

Those Dickie cargo pants, are they impervious to SH, what is the material, and where do you buy them?

To soon? Did I go to far

On another note, despite my apparant grumpiness I am something of a Bible scholar. My father was a pastor for a time after seminary. I grew up in bible schools and am a deacon ay my church. I have yet to find anywhere in the bible where God or Hebrew laws call for locking someone away for punishment. The war on drugs is simply a cash cow for the gov’t. How can alcohol be legal and cocaine not be. Both are drugs. Tax it all and get the gov’t out off imposing social morays and laws on personal decisions. That’s the role of God, church and personal decisions. Off the soap box of thread derailment and going to check the coffee pot
