Hello, just looking for advise. I wanna build because of cost so I’m looking at a Duro max 18hp 26.26 torque motor with a Tsg 6835g gear drive 6.8 gpm 3500psi also a zk 1 unloader. Would this be a solid build ?
You’ve definitely done a little research to come across that Allison pump! Never used one but a few folks do. I had to Google that Duromax engine; looks like it’s 440cc. A 429cc Kohler Command is only 14hp (13.4 certified) so it’s pretty far fetched that it will actually give you 18hp. It’s probably closer to 13ish in reality, which means you’ll sacrifice PSI as per the formula…
GPM x PSI / 1100 = HP
HP x 1100 / GPM = PSI
HP x 1100 / PSI = GPM
There are a lot of other costs to work in up front like hoses, guns, buffer tank, surface cleaner, plumbing, trailer?, etc… (biggest one: Marketing!! It makes the phone ring) I started with brand new equipment & my new Kohler gave me issues from day one with parts on backorder all year. Very unimpressed! Only way I could fix it was with a 10 year old Honda off of Craigslist, which still runs strong. A GX630 or Gx690 would round out that rig nicely. But then again, it all depends on what you’re looking to do with it. Just my 2 cents. But don’t take my word for anything, I’m a rookie.
