How have you spent vacation this summer? It is important to get away from work and prioritize things in life.
For us this summer was a trip to the Wisconsin Dells for a few nights at Great Wolf Lodge with the kids. We also brought my niece Ellie. We all had a blast!
Ollie has always been afraid of water slides and I convinced her to go down a big one with me on a two person tube. Well we flipped hard in the first turn. I snatched her up and held her out of the water the whole way down. I could hear her screaming bloody murder even though I was underwater. Ended up a whole big deal with them shutting slides down until they interviewed us. Ollie will never want to go on another water slide lol
We went in September last time in 2016 and it wasn’t bad. We also intentionally went during the week on this trip because it was cheaper and less crowded.
Spent a few days at the beach a month and a half ago. Been looking for an excuse to go back. Looks like i got lucky we are headed back the 15th -19th for a free stay. A friend from work just got a beach house and wanted us the come down.
Two person raft. Chris at one end weighing in at 300+. Ollie at the other end weighing in at under 40 lbs. What could go wrong? Only kidding. They’re usually pretty stable on water slides.
We met my wife’s family at the one in Southern Ohio a few years back. It’s a great place for the kids to run around and well worth the price.
@Donut If you like theme parks you need to go to Cedar Point in Sandusky. It’s the best roller coaster theme park in the country and might be voted the best in the world. They hold most of the world records for roller coasters. They have a bunch of roller coasters too. I think something like 20. They have other types of rides too. I’m in IL so it’s quite a drive for us and haven’t been there for a number of years. My back is almost too screwed up anymore to ride those things but they sure are fun! I always take our daughter to Six Flags every year but I try and stay off of the wooden roller coasters. I like them but they’re really rough on the back.
We usually head to Florida but this year I took the week of August 4th off and I know one place were going is to Sand Dune National Park on Lake Michigan up in Indiana. I remember going as a kid and it was pretty neat. You feel like you’re at the ocean. We’re then going to hit the Chicago zoo, probably Shed Aquarium, and then Magic Waters (water park). I’m not sure what else they have planned. I just let the wife and kids figure it out and go along for the ride. I figure I’ve done enough planning and scheduling so it’s nice not having to worry about it.
My kids love Great Wolf. Best time to go is fall and winter mid week. Great deals and no lines. We spent a a few days at a lake house last week in the Poconos, PA.
