have you ever put a bid in to LOW on a job…
I did at a church… this is a BIG PLACE 2 sites front and back.
I already go 10hrs in it and have got another 8 to go…
I put in $2,0000 and should have done $3,000

Have you ever ordered a $20 steak, finished half of it, and had the manager walk by and say “that’s going to be $30 instead of $20 cause I want to make more money”? I under bid 10% of my jobs. Its part of the business when you bid stuff out of state or don’t have time to look it up in person. Work faster or be content with less profit. You can’t raise your price to pocket more money. Especially with a church

Don’t forget those jobs that you finished early and realized you “over bid”. You usually end on top in the end.

Boom. Great point. I had one just like this at a farm house remodel yesterday. Took about 2/3 the time I thought it would and ended up cleaning out the gutters for free because the lady was so nice and I got to cross “Meet a llama in real life” off my bucket list.

Totaly agree with @Innocentbystander stand by your qouted price! That being said never hurts to mention your pricing mistake to the owner/managment. At the least you are preparing them for the next service. At the best they may throw you a bone. I bid a warehouse at 1750, sent the invoice. Manager calls next day over the moon on how good it looks. I tell him i am glad he is happy the job took more then expected. He says knowing what you know now what would you charge? I say i stick by my quoted price but next time it would be in the 2750 range. Get check in the mail from head office for 2750 with copy of invoice edited and signed by the manager… sometimes honesty pays off even when you dont mean it to.
