Trail or Bail?

Need to get my equipment out of my van, so looking to build open trailer.

Kinda thinking of either doing that or calling it quits on PW. But dont need to make a decision until Spring. Gotta find out if customer is going to definitely pick up service for spring.

Season didnt end well, missed out on a couple weeks of work. All in all, pretty stressful year doing this work. Window cleaning is like a canoe drifting silently on a placid lake after 6 months of grrrrarrrrarrrrrarrrrrarrrrrrarrrrarrr.

5x8 trailer - will it fit?:
Power wash skid
Hot water vertical heater
2 reels
50gal buffer tank
10gal diesel tank
6gal gas tank
21" Surface cleaner
2 fire extinguishers

Optional:
Two 30 gal reclaim barrels
300’ vacuum hose reel
Couple inverter generators

I put my new system 8gpm 24hp Honda on a 12’ trailer… If I had to do over and still might, wish I had did a enclosed trailer…my trailer was $1,200 new
Looks like you could us a 10 or 12’ with all you have on it

I cant say to continue doing pw or not but for a trailer you may want to go with a 5x10 as the smallest. I have one and wish i would have got at least a 5x12 and tandem at that.

My 5x10 has:
1 x 13hp 4gpm
1 X 13hp 5.5gpm
1 X harbor freight wheel barrel compressor
1 X 125 gallon buffer tank
1x 50 gallon SH tank
1 x 15 gallon House mix tank
4 x house reels
1 x proportioner
1 x aodd pump

I would not to give up pressure washing. I say you should target commercial, for me it pays a lot more per job. I don’t know what to say about your setup, but I went from a 5x6 trailer to a 14ft box truck and I love it.

Why are you emptying out the van? I was thinking of going from an open trailer to a van, was looking forward to seeing your setup. I assume you have a video on YouTube about it

Edit: bro, I saw the vid, that’s crazyyy. Reminds me of my personal motto, “successful despite”, keep trucking forward man

If I were asking myself this same question (and I did when I stopped window cleaning):

Pareto Principle and Occams Razor always apply.

What 20% of services/customers provide 80% of your income/profit? Scrap the other 80% of services and hyper focus on the 20% that matter.

If it makes more sense to focus on window cleaning then scrap PW.

Simplify. Simple is best. Check out books like Built to Sell, One Page Business Plans, etc.

Precisely what I did. Had to scrap the residential house washes to focus on what made money

Guess what happens when you Bing makeup advise.

There’s something remarkably serene in window cleaning. When one’s technique reaches the level of Jordie’s, one becomes the master of the window. He’s taught me a great deal about window cleaning. My technique has improved with each of his YouTube contributions. Having said that, I don’t see myself ever giving one up for the other. I sell so many PW jobs to window customers, and the more time I spend on that PW the more I look forward to the serenity of a good window job. It’s an interesting dichotomy: more $$ generated by PW, but LOVE the quiet satisfaction that comes from a good window job.

Yes, that’s true. Kinda feel the same way. There is something healthy for the mind about a change of pace, either way. Thanks for the kind words too.
