have any of you used a calcium hypochlorite and sh mix for roof cleaning to try and reduce the total amount of salt. i’m just starting out and would appreciate any info.

no i’m in virginia, i guess that guy from softwash systems in fla. is just blowing smoke when he says that you can reduce the amount of sh by using ch. i’m not trying to be critical, i just want to do the best i can for my customers.
The guy you mentioned sells snake oil. He already had a fiasco trying to pitch that mess in Texas a couple of years ago. My wife called all american softwash in Daytona last week to wash her mother’s 1800 sq ft house and rinse her painted driveway. He quoted $650 and said it would take 2 guys 8 hours… she said no thank you. He called back ten minutes later and said he would do it for $450. All brick ranch house with vinyl soffit. 30 minute job and $250 max for me.
what a rip off, you have to be fair. i recently had to put a new roof on my house 1500 sq ft. had prices from 18k to 7k there are con artists in every trade.
I’m curious what makes him a RIP off? Everybody has different price points and overhead costs. I am usually higher than my competitors but I dont think I’m ripping my customers off. I provide a great service and great customer service.

Rip off is because he quoted a lady $650 for a less than half hour job. Compounded by calling back to lower price $200. Nothing wrong with being higher priced, but don’t prey on what is perceived naivety.

Grumpy I see your side but just because it takes you 30 min doesn’t mean it will take him 30 min. 400 to do a house and driveway isn’t a bad price.
Then he shud get better equipment… You gonna pay someone more to cut your grass cause they use a push mower and not a Zero turn?
If they do a good job then yes.
I agree with ya here though… might be a little more than i would charge for that particular sized house but most house/drive combos end up around $3-350 range for me

Also just because the actual job may take 30-60 min doesn’t mean that is all the time involved. You need to calculate total time. You have to get to the job,then set up for the job, then do the job, then wrap up the job, then get paid. It is more than 30 min.

I’m also not going to over pay either. I also dont mind paying a little extra for top service.
In grumpys case yes the other contractor would more than likely not give a great full customer service experience that would demand the higher price quoted.
In new jersey we charge a little more than the south because our season is shorter. I dont know where you are located but each market is different from state to state.
