I am hoping to start for real this year. I’ve spent the last two years getting comfortable, reading as much as I can and washing my house multiple times while also doing several friends and family’s houses.
From what I’ve read on here, I realize a company name is NOT all that important. Prominently promoting that you do house washing is much more important than a meaningless (at least in the beginning) company name/logo, but I still would like to start with a name/logo to appear as professional as possible. And as you all know, I have to register a business name to get insurance.
With that said, I’m leaning towards “Lucky Duck Home Exterior Cleaning.” I feel like I could market something along the lines of “Give your house a bath/shower” since that’s essentially what we’re doing, and as corny as it may be, I could buy a bunch of those little rubber duckies nice and cheap and use them in marketing.
Also, I welcome any thoughts on “home exterior cleaning” vs “power washing?” I know SEO-wise people would almost never search for “home exterior cleaning” but I am not looking to set the world on fire at first, would like to ease into things, so while important, SEO isn’t a huge concern at this point. I will likely live off of word-of-mouth referrals for a while.
And I will likely play up the gentle aspect of house washing, so not really sure I want “power washing” in the name.
Maybe “Lucky Duck House Washing” would be better?
Anyway, just curious if anyone has thoughts on any of the above.
If I could do it all over again I’d probably go with something extremely simple. Like AAA Power Wash or something. I’m not terribly creative so I’m probably not the best person to give advice on this matter.
Something simple like @DisplacedTexan said is probably your best bet. Naming it after the city or county you live in might not be a bad idea. ex. Detroit pressure washing or Macomb county pressure washing. I would not name it after a single service like house washing.
I read somewhere that if the name of your service is in your business name it can help with your seo if you have a website. Also do a keyword search and see what people in your area call it (pressure or power washing) and stick with that. You could also do a search for power/pressure washing businesses in your area and see what they go by.
Thought about that, but feel like it would confuse people when they see me using a pressure washer. I could explain that we’re using very low pressure, but might get annoying explaining myself haha.
Maybe “Low Pressure”?
Customers love free crap n stuff, And it will eventually end up in their home for all to see. I like the rubber duck idea. We hand out tee shirts and air fresheners with tongue and cheek sayings like.
(If it ain’t got rubber we don’t scrubber)
(Let’s Talk dirty).
( Keep calm and wash on).
We have the same customers all year every year and they look forward to seeing what weird crap we’ll think of next. I’m thinking a calendar of all the trucking companies we wash for next year.
I bet you’ve seen you share of naked lady mudflaps, sometimes you see the naked trucker mudflaps (includes ballcap and beer belly). Maybe you should make a mudflap calendar with some of your clients.
January is dirty bill, February is Filthy Phil etc,.
