The Smoking Gun

Has anyone ever experienced this?! Rinsing a house (no heat) and whenever I closed the shut off valve it would start smoking.

The Smoking Gun

See if I can’t anticipate a few questions:

  • Mild day, high of around 85
  • We don’t downstream so no chemicals have ever been through this hose or gun
  • No smoke or smell from the engine or pump
  • Nothing hot to the touch
  • Relatively new rig < 500 hours with regular maintenance

What starts smoking? The end of the wand? What do you mean by “shutoff valve”? The gun? What kind of pressure washer are we talking about?

The smoke was coming out of the ball valve I run between hose and gun. Link to a youtube video in the post. It’s a Honda GX390 with a General Pump. It has a burner but wasn’t running.

That’s wild. Better run, she’s about to blow, lol.

Ha, I thought the same when it first happened. Started smoking early morning though and ran smooth all day without a hiccup or any sign of overheating.

You sure the smoke isn’t just coming from your joint? :joy:

The only thing I can think of is that you have the smallest pinhole leak ever and it’s misting so fine it looks like smoke

Hey now we’re professionals, we smoke before we get to the job site
