Tech Guru Advice Needed

So, if you know me, and a lot of you do, you probably know that I’m technologically inept. I got a fancy (for me anyhow) new tablet for one of my Christmas presents and it came with a 128gb SD card. Well, I got it all fired up and put the SD card in (only took me half an hour to figure out how to open that slot thing) and I wanted to store all my apps and pictures and whatnot on the SD card since the tablet is only 32 gigs. I can’t figure out how to move my apps to the SD card. Anybody have any experience with this stuff?

It’s a Samsung Tab A7.

Either that guy has massive hands or he’s using a different tablet. I’ve got large hands and I can’t one hand it lol

Did it work for you or show you how to do it on your tab?

if you open “Settings”, scroll down to “Apps”, tap the app you’d like to move, then under the specific app options tap “Storage” and under “Storage used” tap “change” , it gives you the option to move the app to an SD card if you have one installed.

There are exceptions. If the app is preloaded or somehow registered to your Google or Samsung account , they don’t allow you to move most of those apps. It’s hit and miss but you can move some and of course it’s a pain to move every app individually.

You can also go into “Settings” and “Storage” and select your SD card and tap the hamburger menu, and select “Settings” and “Format as internal”, then “Erase and Format”. your SD card will then be read as internal storage

Okay, I just followed the video and it looks way different but most of the steps are similar but I’m still not seeing the option to move apps over.

When I click on Apps and select an app like Markate this is what I get.

From there, if I click on Storage I see this:

So I’m still not seeing how to move to SD.

No dice there either. No hamburger menu at all. I’m going to try formatting the card again and see if that does anything.

And, nope.

I even opened the Developer Options and selected “force allow apps on external” which “makes and app eligible to be written to external storage, regardless of manifest values”. Not sure if that’s right but it sounded good.

If you have a DS 12 modulating destabilizing link I can log in from here nd do it all for you. It is quite technical and would be hard to explain, easier for me to just do it.

Oh thank goodness. I was hoping someone would offer to do that. I’m in. How do we proceed?

I already did it. I was able to get your password from a contact on the dark internet. The changes won’t take effect unit you mail me a check for a buck two fifty. Until then you are locked out. PS. I saw the sites you have been on that your wife doesn’t know about

Hmm are you seeing the SD card in the menu?

Congrats on the new tablet!
Can’t help you with your specific question, but I would like to give you some advice, even though I am no “tech guru”.
I doubt that 32GB is not going to be enough for your apps, especially since you mentioned you are not a “power user”.
If you are a planning to use the tablet to take pictures for work (based on the markate screenshot), you should know that your phone likely takes much better quality pictures, and if it doesn’t, it might be worth it to upgrade to a new phone.
Also, I wouldn’t use an sd card to store anything that is not backed up - as far as I understand, those things are like the “direct drive pump” equivalent of storage.
Just my 2cents…

I am. I just can’t see a way to move apps to it anywhere. I know I’m bad at this but I’ve managed to do this in the past and don’t remember having any issues.

Hey thanks. No, I’m planning on using my Pixel for photos and whatnot. I’m just going to use this for general use but wanted it to have as much stuff backed up on the SD card as possible in case this tablet crashes like my last Samsung tablet did a few years back.

Let’s eliminate the basics, what SD card are you using?

ahh ic… Makes sense.

I have this one. I’ve reformatted it a couple times, unmounted and remounted a few times and switched out with another new one just to be sure.

Ha. Seems like this isn’t possible on this particular tablet. I just found this on the Samsung community site:

Looks like I may be SOL on this one.

Hammer definitely hit it with a hammer
