Can you tell what this is?

Looks like the type of concrete siding board I have on my shed

Had a plasticky feel and i think it was painted. Could’ve been vinyl but the seams didn’t over lap.

Hardiboard with factory coating/paint?

Looks like some variation of hardiboard.

I had a house earlier this year that had a manufactured wood siding. That was a new one to me. Treated it the same as painted wood, and came out great.

Looks like waterproofing over siding. An elasticmerrick coating used with a fiber webbing. Hydro stop is one name that comes to mind

Those seams were flush to each other. Any thoughts on that?

I would say hardi-plank cement board siding with a protective paint on it. Hardi-plank doesn’t overlap but butts up to each other. Looks to thick to be vinyl

With Hardiplank there is supposed to be more gap than that.

“Supposed to”, being the operative words :smirk:

Interesting. It seems like that would make for an unappealing aesthetic.

Yep. :slightly_smiling_face:

Well, you don’t really notice it unless you are looking for it. The material needs the room for expansion and contraction. Vinyl deals with it by the overlapping seams and j channel where it meets anything. :slightly_smiling_face:

I jest. I’m certain there are advantages to it.

My vote is painted hardi board. A lot of that here in New Orleans. I don’t like it. It’s prone to fallout and has to be scrubs by hand in a lot of cases.

Hardiplank / LP Smart siding. We personally stay away from LP smart siding… to many issues with paint, especially if it was painted with Sherwin Williams. That color should be fine though, we’ve had issues with blue and green

The builders\painters caulked the seams before painting.

That’s why it appears to have no seams…still room for expansion
