Support Fair Tax Policy For US Sellers & Buyers

I got this email from eBay and gave it some thought and signed it. What do you think?

https://www.ebaymainstreet.com/petition/internet-sales-tax-buyers?utm_campaign=2018-US-IST-Petition&utm_source=marketing-email-buyer&utm_medium=email

"eBay supports tax policy that is fair to entrepreneurs, artisans, and small businesses, which are vital to the American economy, and we oppose efforts to impose taxes that would harm these businesses. Millions of people across the country sell on the eBay marketplace, and there has never been a more critical time to stand against new and unfair Internet taxes.

The U.S. Supreme Court will make a decision in the coming weeks that could give states the right to tax every small business on the Internet.

The issue is just as urgent on Capitol Hill, as states, shopping centers, and large retailers lobby hard to increase taxes on small businesses and their online customers. When the Supreme Court makes its decision, it will bring together the various threads on the issue of Internet sales tax. "

This is a bunch a crap… I hope they pass it and they tax! They are also taxing the people buying not the people selling. Our roads and infrastructure are failing because of internet sales. Tax laws have not kept up with the times and now that everyone (including us in the PW industry) buys most stuff online the local economy suffers. When the Walmart’s came to town what happened? All the mom and pop stores started closing… Now that amazon and other online retail outlets are booming what do you see happening? The K marts and smaller big box stores are closing. Hey, I don’t like taxes as much as the next guy. But when we keep buying all of our stuff online we are shipping dollars somewhere not local and that is killing your local economy… Unless you live near an amazon HQ lol

how do you expect roads to stay in place? What about firefighters, police, teachers?

I live in TN and I must say my town has great roads and the interstates are flawless for the most part  Tax rate is like 9.5%! :frowning:

Isn’t it weird to you that taxes were gradually allocated to those things, but we had them before taxation?

How about when “city maintenance ends” is the start of pothole free driving? Privatized roads are generally better maintained. We have a city maintenance ends sign about 3 blocks away between Gladstone and Kansas City. When it iced or snows Kansas City’s side May or May not get cleared. Taxes are higher there though.

You know that the government paid a buddy of mine $800k to hang 20 white boards in a facility that took 8 screws each so they wouldn’t have decreased funding the next year… for what? $800k toilet paper rolls?

The government is not a good steward of your money and you don’t need taxes to have schools, fire departments, or police officers.

I don’t believe in taxes in anyway shape or form and when I get uncharacteristically angry like the devil it’s usually when I’m writing a tax check. Taxation is theft. Always will be.

I actually just got back from TN yesterday from vacation. Drove from fl to gatlinburg, then to nashville. Then from there to Memphis. Amazing state! Roads had A LOT of potholes lol.

Nashville is pretty bad but I only travel 24 from Nashville to Clarksville, When we hit the KY line you definitely feel it

I work for the state and yes I agree money is not always well spent. Most contractors that bid on anything state will be 3x the normal. I don’t see you changing my mind and I don’t see me changing yours lol

Memphis was rough too. Gatlinburg rode fine, and my God did I love those mountains and creeks! I have every intention to move up toward pigeon forge one day.

Were at 8 here and roads are crap!

That I can agree on. Because I will never believe taxes are a good thing.

I am driving to Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg this weekend!

Tennessee, Kentucky, and Northern Alabama are absolutely beautiful. I crossed the prairie in a straight line with no hills across Missouri or Illinois and felt like I was on a different planet.

My uncle told me once years ago before his passing.

“two things in life are for sure. You will die and you will pay taxes”

And I will never stop trying to figure out how to pay as little as possible!

Take a hike up laurel falls. Only about a mile hike up to the waterfall. Beautiful sight.

Become Amish? You have the beard for it!

Florida is completely flat. Alabama had amazing views too. Brutal 16 hour drive back from memphis though.

Yeah I did 20+ hours over two days. Not wise. Even less fun.
