Stabilization point of bleach

Does anyone know what SH will settle out at, percentage-wise? Maybe @CaCO3Girl? I have several gallons of 10% left over that have been kept cool and inside, was thinking to use them in the pump sprayer for a small patio or some awnings i’m getting ready to do. I thought Ive read on here somewhere it would settle at 6% but I can’t locate that anywhere. It’s not much money, I just hate to waste it. I can try some and add more till the desired effect is reached, I guess.

Still yellow ? You can try & shock it, will usually boost it enough for normal house washing

Yep, it’s still yellow, just curious if I start dividing it in half for a small batch what my starting number is close to

Did you taste it ? Taste this batch then next time you get fresh dip a finger & taste it again then you will know when % has dropped off too much. Buy some shock & add a TBS to 5gls & see if temp rises 30 days in my book is half dead SH.

Yeah, didn’t plan to, but I appreciated the answer! I guess maybe you could develop a sense of what is fresh and what is weaker

Most people do the finger test. Dip you finger in it then rub your fingers together. If it gets warm quickly it’s still strong. Well strongish at least

I can tell by touch. Use your finger and dip in

Hot and turns white instantly your at 12-14 %.

Turns white and gets a little bit hot after a few seconds - 10-11%.

Kinda turns white and gets a little warm 8-10%

Everything else throw it away

Ok, I appreciate it guys

I have been tasting it for 28+ years & it has not affected my health one iota. I am talking about using calcium hypochlorite to shock your sodium hypochlorite or add a little Trichloro - Triazinetrione. The slippery test is fine but I wear gloves. You can also use a colometric ? test if your really anal.

Ok, I appreciate it! I thought you were advising to shock it with pool shock

Yes powdered pool shock calcium hypochlorite 1TBS to 5gallon jug it will boost alkalinity

Sorry guys, late to the party. There is no way to know what it is at now, but I concur, do NOT taste it :roll_eyes::roll_eyes::roll_eyes::roll_eyes:

You’re not late, thanks for the info! No tasting here.

You know absorption is absorption whether its a finger or a tongue. Most municipality’s across the country use sodium hypochlorite for potable water treatment you drink it in ppm concentrations, you bath in it daily & you get covered in it while washing & tasting it is worse ??? I know chemists, I work with chemists & Ive seen PPE become less important to them after 10 years or so in the field everything your professors stressed is not correct…

i’m not so concerned with the absorption of SH, my concern is the concentrated dose on taste buds, tongue, throat…etc.

And yes, I rarely wear gloves unless I’m dealing with a true nasty, which I don’t count SH as. However, I also have a great respect for chemicals in general and know that they can and will hurt me if i’m being a dumbas$

Have I burned my throat from SH ? yes have I burned my skin ? yes, have I burned my eyes ? yes, have I burned my taste buds or tongue ? NO. I gave a real world contract cleaners answer to initial posters question. Dumbassery is objective
