Soap and water only, pollen and poop

I have a small walk and driveway pad to do in combination with a rubber tile porch floor. The walk and driveway look good as they were coated with some white coating so they are not getting surface cleaned. They have just bird crap and pollen on them with a few marks here and there. I am hesitant to spray that rubber porch floor with chems, as it already has a discoloration on it in the wear pattern (not terrible but noticeable). I wouldn’t normally hesitate to spray colored rubber with HW mix, but with that wear pattern taking the red colored top off in the wear section I don’t want to take chances. It is pretty clean, but we have gotten tons of pollen this year. It is really odd how much pollen we have gotten, it is normally not like this here. Cars are coated about every 2 days. Normally where I live, unless you park under a pine tree, you get it early spring, then towards fall, and a little here and there.

I don’t have a proportioner, so if I just want to hit it with soap and water drop my drop tube for my injector in a bucket of soap and water only? Never did this before and never thought of it before this bid. Rest of the house is stone and vinyl so it is getting HW mix, except where they had their grill at, that section might need a little degreaser. Gutters aren’t too bad, algea on backside of house.

My plan is just mix up some of my eliminator with water in a 5 gal bucket and drop the tube in there. Saving that section of the house for last.

They said they normally hire a guy who comes out a scrubs the backside of their house with a rag, where the algae grows. I laughed because I thought they were joking. They weren’t.

Sure, why not. If just soap gets it clean you’ve accomplished the mission.

Nope, just soap won’t clean anything. I even shower with SH mixed into my shampoo bottle.

Shoot, I laughed a little too. That’s a terrible thing to imagine.

Could always just batch mix soap and water for your 12v system if you have one of those. Then just rinse with the PW.

I bought a 12v for transferring chems, but not for my trailer…yet. I don’t do roofs, and I don’t do too much washing. I have a little 12v for spraying acid on decks, do you think a 2gpm would work on a drive or porch for soap and water? I was thinking I needed like 5-7 gpm for this. Never used just soap and water so I am out of my depths here.

Natural blonde?

Sure it would. When I first started I did all my post treating with pump sprayers for anything that DS wouldn’t take care of. You’ll just move slower

thanks, I have several pump ups, just didn’t want to go that route because I get lazy.

I also have a 2.2gpm portable, post treated a 5100 sq/ft driveway with it.

I didn’t have to use anything but water on that rubber tile porch. Turns out it still had tons of soap on it from the last time they cleaned it. First pass was like a car foamer had hit it. It took forever to rinse it, had like a pattern to it with grooves. It would have been comical to watch I am sure. I was very worried at first.

I did run into one weird issue. Washed the backside of the garage, rinsed, moved on to the front. Anywho, walked back around to grab my ladder and there were dark yellow marks on the siding (vinyl) coming out of the weep holes. I asked him what it was, he said he had no idea. SH wouldn’t remove it, a mild acid didn’t budge it, I wound up trying about everything on my trailer. Finally got it to clean up with either one restore or the other eaaco chem product. Turns out he had used a 2 inch foamboard and didn’t wrap it. It was the tar paper kind not the foil backed kind. I told him it was likely there very lightly and hardly noticeable before I cleaned the house. Once I cleaned it you could really see it. I took the time to rag it all off while he rinsed with a garden hose. Told him it is going to come back again as soon as the vinyl gets water behind it.

All in all I was there way longer then I planned. I think the whole job was 4 hours. I probably spent 45 minutes to an hour rinsing that soap off the porch. Fixed the one gutter clog while I was there. They were very happy when I was done and threw in an extra 50. I’m cool with it. I wash for peanuts and it was the only job today, so I could take my time and do it - what I perceive to be “right”.

Funny thing is, after chatting with the knowledgeable folks on here, I had my 12v all set up and ready to go with soap and water for the deck and never used it.
