$800 ( 6’4"x12’) it’s two feet longer than what I have now. I am thinking of upgrading to a two axle but I am concerned about a 2 axle 14 foot because I have to get into a lot of tight places with these lake houses. I am not a fan of the tailgate at all.
Sorry I misread the post. If its a 12 footer id grab it. Will an extra two feet keep you from turning around in your area at certain locations? Extra space is always welcomed but being able to navigate is more important thats the decision maker right there.
I’ve always heard that dual axle trailer move better. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’d rather have to slow down or back up a couple more times than get caught in a pinch where I need to haul more weight that my trailer is equipped for.
@Racer what’s your take on maneuverability from your single to your double?
I just bought a 6x14 tandem 5200# axles trailer with brakes for $1800. My friend in Ga sells them and can get whatever you want. Not sure where you’re located though. I would pass on a 14’ single axle.
Keep looking for a nice tandem axle trailer. Preferably one with torsion axles, makes it much easier to change a flat tire. If in a pinch you can always pull the tire & runs down the road on one axle a whole lot easier than with leaf springs.
Brakes are ALWAYS a good thing. Why wear out your vehicle brakes pulling a trailer without brakes?
Look for 15" tires & go for the tires that are rated for more than what your trailer will ever weigh.
DON’T cheap out on the tires! If you’re in a pinch, that’s one thing… otherwise run the best tire you can afford… blowouts suck & do damage to trailers…
Just my thoughts on trailers, and pulling them around for years.
